Honestly most math teachers are like if a language teacher were to teach you a language in that language and expecting you to "get it" if they speak it enough And they are so puzzled when you tell them you dont understand

Lol I learned an alternative form of boxes that were more complex and precise in their methodology. It's known as the lattice method. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGS3kIGee9GjeJI

Absolutely phenomenal lesson once again!! Thank you so much for these unparalleled teachings. Personally, I would like to please see a visual representation of both the box problems involving the negative solving for m as well as the traditional one in real time so that we can watch shaded and unshaded portions change color on top of a representative 2 dimensional shapes in order to reflect the calculations in a easily digestible manner. Then that way we will be able to literally see why the negative MUST be a positive, and it will make the most sense that it can make. What do you think? edit clarification

Hi, great stuff! But I believe you added some confusion. In your card piles example. You canceled 10 with minus 10 in parentheses which may confuse people as it appears that you ignored the parentheses rule. Which in this case doesn't matter but let's take an example: 2 + (2 - 4) which converting as you did will be 2 - (-2 +4) If someone will first add numbers 2 + 2 and then + 4, it will give them 8 instead of 0. The rule here which may confuse people is that they need to view this as multiplication of what in parentheses by one. 2 - 1*(-2 + 4) = 2 +2 -4 = 0 So what the author did (again, great video!) is that he, in his head, did the following equation: 10 + 1*(-10 +b) = 10 -10 + B
