Been watching acrylic pours since July..... I think your pour today was quite amazing... IA free that sometimes the simplest pour is the best... allowing if you will for the paint to do its thing... so often it seems I love a piece and then the shifting of paint to cover all corners not only takes away some the what I thin are the best aspects of the piece but also stretches the cells in a weird and wonky way!!!! Nice work... I subscribed and shared with others I think will like your work! Have a great weekend!

I am not a "pourer" and have never tried but love watching all the videos. I have made a couple of MDF signs in the past and have found out that a couple of coats of a primer/filler with a light sand in between should stop your paint being sucked up. With MDF the edges are the most pourus but I have found that some filler knifed in then sanded will help with that.
@Em4Art2D7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the words of advice. That MDF is tricky stuff for sure! These days I do put at least a couple coats of primer on there. Thanks for watching :)

I use MDF as a background and just a couple of coats of PVA glue mixed with the background colour as a primer which seems to work well. I usually do 5 -6 board at the same time. The edges are a bit of a problem as they are very pourus so I will use a wood filler on the edges and sand them down before priming Great video as always, many thanks .
@Em4Art2D6 жыл бұрын
Yes, after I did that painting I also starting priming my MDF like crazy.. never was industrious enough to put wood filler on the edges though, I'm impressed! These days I'm just sticking to canvases...I'm finding they are less problematic in general. Thanks so much for checking out my video :)

I think this is one of the best pours I have seen. Colors and cells are off the chart! I am going to try to recreate this piece this morning. Would be curious how much water, floetrol and silicone you put in your paint. Also, I think the thinner negative space white paint actually contributed to how well the paints spread on their own. Thanks for you posting your work.
@Em4Art2D7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Wow so many nice compliments:) :). I believe I used Nicky James Burch recipe for the floetrol-pva glue pouring medium. The white I definitely made a little thinner than heavy cream. Can’t remember exact proportions, sorry! Hope your pour was a success!! Thanks for watching :)

Everyone doing acrylic pour seems to be talking about adding silicone! Does it mean that just mixing acrylic with water wouldn't give me these beautiful cells? I obviously loved the splash too! Excellent piece!
@Em4Art2D5 жыл бұрын
Just adding water is problematic. Thinning with just water can cause crazing and cracking. I’ve had success with getting cells with adding floetrol, but some additive like silicone helps. Be aware that silicone (or oil based liquids) super hard to clean off after. That is why I tend to shy away from them these days
@gwillekkers6 жыл бұрын
The thin paint caused all of those beautiful lacy edgings. So maybe just gesso next time and leave the consistency of the white paint? Anyway, I totally agree with you.... its awesome!

This looks awesome. It's too bad you weren't happy with the way that the white turned out. I wish you had posted a picture of it after it dried. I love the color you used. I know nothing about this type of painting but would love to try it.

Well, your initial slap/bang with your cup looked really cool, however, once you started, and finished your cup 'drag', that looked even better on the canvas, and IMO made the area of the initial slap/bang look somewhat out of place. I used to get it at my job. I have since quit said job (moved) but plan on getting it at home depot in the future. I'm using 3/8" thick MDF-doesn't warp, and not too heavy-I found the 3/4" way too heavy especially for the larger pieces

Hi Emily :) Awesome rainbow colors! If you were to hang this what do you need?
@Em4Art2D7 жыл бұрын
Hi Marie! Thanks! :) It depends on the look you are going for.. If you were to frame it I think you would need a deeper than normal frame as this particular MDF is 3/8" thick. However unframed, I would just drill a shallow hole in the back centre near the top. I would then just hang it on a nail...OR! you know those velcro peel and stick things? That would work perfectly!
