The Goodwills around here have been garbage for many years. Anything decent that doesn't get put online gets snapped up by resellers immediately. The only purpose it serves now is as a place to dump your unwanted items.

Boom-ba; The wooden box on the side with the slit in it, is a rhythm block. Hit it with wooden stick. The Stumpf fiddle became a percussion instrument, beaten with a stick and stamped on the ground to shake attached wrattles, bells and cymbals. The instrument may have a string, or not. It is also called Devil's stick, pogo cello, boom-ba, boom bass, hum strum, devil's violin, teufel stick.

I think you should dedicate part of your space as a prop rental company - plays, shows, weddings or other events.... You have to be so careful with antiques now. Maybe a prop section will get you some money back... I am glad you finally got a postcard that helped you explain why they send you postcards... I might send you one, but I don't need time in your cabin as I live in Canada... BTW when I die I am coming back as the "shop cat" and I will be well taken care of.........😂

You can do good business with hiring out vintage furniture, lamps, phones, mirrors and other stuff to film and theatres. But that would take a whole nother warehouse . One near to me in Boston. (The original Boston here in England) has a place which has vintage fridges, washing machines, cookers, furniture and more, all for hire to the film and theatre businesses and the do good business too.

Peter, the “slot” piece on the strange, made in ohio instrument you don’t know why you bought looks like a woodblock! It’s a piece of auxiliary percussion that you hit with a mallet, if I’m not mistaken! Cheers!

Hey Pete, To shed some light on your musical stick: The block with the slit is a gock block, hit it on the flat side and it will resonate a sound. Also it looks like there is a hook on there for you to hang a cowbell. Looking forward to hearing your new band!

Glad they were able to come to a deal on at least the cane type item. As Pete said it's hard to find middle ground here when the creator has sentimental value that won't translate to any buyer, and that gets in the way of his being able to make a profit. Cool items though!

Good fishing especially in colder weather because on average they’re 15-20degrees warmer than other lakes.. Causes largemouth to spawn really early in the season.. sight fishing in January is a good time..

Have you thought about devoting a small area of your shop either for just handmade items/art or even allowing artists to sell their work in a small section for a fee? I don't know what rules apply in that town or if it would even be profitable on your end but I can't help but wonder. Good show.

Peter, the things you can't sell like the Bud Light light and the wheel chair are called 'props' in Hollywood. Old army gear and stuff like that can be hard to find in a pinch but it is rentable. Art directors love things like this, but you'd probably need a lot of space unless you were a specialist with weaponry or something. Then there's a number of people like that with boutiques.
