Having lived in Manzanita for 15 years (which I love) I ended up buy a house in Nehalem. First, you have full time neighbors, who look out for each other. Manzanita unfortunately has a large percentage of vacation home which set empty a majority of the time. Second, the 2 miles that you are from the beach, means the salt air doesn't eat the paint off you car or truck. Third unless you are right on 101 the neighbor hoods are quiet. you don't have all the visitors running up and down your streets, all the time. Nehalem and Wheeler have the best of both worlds, peace and quiet and Manzanita (and the beach) is only 5 minuets away.

I grew up going to our family beach cabin; in Manzanita, until my grandpa decided to live there full time! The beach house was at the end of Elm Street, on the top of the sand dune, right across the street from the ocean. 😍

What about the residents getting flooded in for days every winter? Is there a way around that? If it weren't for that I'd move there in a heartbeat, Nehalem is ravishing.

Undiscovered bay?? 🤔 I used to walk from Elm Street to the Bay every day! Take route 53 into Portland.
