Hello Priyanshi, good to hear your aspiration for climbing! So NIM or any other mountaineering institute will provide you the skills, just like the college.. but not any placement here. One has to find opportunities outside (getting connected with mountaineers/ regular climbers). Everest is commerical now, anyone having money can do with the help of any organization, In India sponsorship are like from Army, air force, ndrf/ any force, Tata, or very rare private groups... Also to add, this field quite filled with competitive people. I'll recommend you to do the course first, only after that you will get better picture of this field. Good luck and Take care

Sorry for late reply but yes, make sure you could run 5km by 25-30 minutes and do some pull ups & squats as well.. daily.

Super and congrats...and can you please tell about what the endurance test at NIM consist of? I am preparing for next year 262

1. Before the course run 5km a day and improve your time daily. (~25min) 2. Work on squats, planks and pull up sets because during ice craft and rock craft you will require more arm and core strength. 3. Have some stretching exercise too before the course. All this will make you far more fit for the course. 4. During the course learn all skills and apply them properly. 5. Show good team spirit and be descipline, avoid misbehaving. 6. Most important, avoid injuries during any training/activity. I could only say this things rest you will have golden 28 days.

You have to wait for 2 years or go to institute on the 1st of the course with your backpack.. they might take if there is any last minute cancellation.

Hello Bala, BMC and AMC are just like your school and college. You can't go to college without understanding the basic from school. So it's not possible to do AMC without doing BMC and also not, unless you get 'A' grade in BMC.

All the climbing gears will be provided by the Institute. you need have your trekking shoe, pair of cloths, winter wear, sunglasses, waterproof gloves and few other which are mentioned website too www.nimindia.net

Aditya it is absolutely safe there.. Yes we use single screw carabiner on our harness, but this can hold up to 2400 kg safely.

You are correct, in that case we must have link(2) piton base or triangular base to distribute weight equally. Even the rope diameter & quality must be known.. The instructor will teach all the ways but their practical application depend on us & situation.

I had query I am joing BMC256 next month and due to medical reasons I gained a lot of weight this winter I have started training again my legs are fine but the upper body strength is very low. Can you please let me know how would it effect me at the course as I want to get an A and want to go for the advance course. Please suggest the things I should do as I have only 40 days left. . During the course you will require stamina & shoulder strength but don't worry. I suggest you to build core strength with squats, planks sets daily and few HIIT as well to reduce weight. Rest at NIM show good team spirit, be descipline, learn effectively and most important avoid injuries.

The admission is first come first take policy. You need to upload your medical test form (available in their website). But for he course you have built your stamina and cardio strong to complete the course. Otherwise there are people who quit in between with regards to tough training.

That's not Advance, it's Adventure course. I believe BMC will give more inside to the climbing training, though this 15days course is good for first time mountain exposure.

Hero 5 is great@@mridulsharma4250, but I will suggest to have a extra battery. As in cold weather it may discharge anytime. Tip: keep the batteries in warm jacket when not in use.

Just get your self fit. Before the course built your stamina (check mark: 5km in 30/35 min & few pull up sets daily).. And during the course avoid injuries, you will enjoy your time there.
