The police were told about a possible murder in that house years ago. At one point they searched the place. They even used cadaver dogs. And found nothing. The police seemed very reluctant to confront this nutter. The neighbours are not at fault.

I also don't believe in Satan, or any supernatural deities for that matter. But you have to admit, his actions weren't entirely "all him". I think that he didn't have the full mental capacity to think rationally. And dealing with the shit he dealt with, from his family and society, etc., would make a lot of people go insane.
