I was on the streets for 3 years until March of this year. 2 and a half of those years was with my dog that I rescued from abuse while I was out there. People often told me I shouldn't have her because "I couldn't provide for myself, how could I care for my dog?" Even though I always made sure that she never went without her needs and she always came first. I did the same things as this lady, I took advantage of the resources around me and I panhandled to make money to care for my dog and I as well. Many people only stopped by because they were asking about my dog having food or something, many people made fun of and yelled at me too. Every day I was made to feel less than human. My dog is my entire world, she gave me a purpose and a reason to continue on every day when I had nothing. She kept me safe from predators. She saved me as much as I saved her. Now by the grace of God we both live indoors in time for the winter and she is as loved as she ever has been. I hope this woman and her dog find housing together soon as well. No one deserves to live on the streets being judged and belittled. I truly feel for her. ♡

One day he knocked at the door, the woman had bruises on her face. He asked her who was beating her. She would refuse to talk and kept accepting the abuse. She even would mention that was "Allah " ' s will. Look up statistics, medical journals and pew research on Islamic treatment of women. An animal has a better life than women.

Listening to her shivering voice from the cold is heartbreaking! My cat is my lifeline so I totally understand where she is coming from - I feel the same way about my cat, I could never in a million years leave him behind. If I had a choice to live in a million dollar house without my cat, I wouldn't take it. I wouldn't in a million years leave my cat behind. When I go for a weekend trip, I've had friends tell me, just leave the cat food and water while you are away. I tell them NO! My cat is very social and is very dependent on me and leaving him home for the weekend would traumatise him. I once put my cat at a pension for a weekend, and my cat didn't drink or eat. Since then I always make sure my cat is at a friends house where he feels comfortable and where I know he is safe.

@Bob Bobbertson Also people need BOTH charity & income when they're homeless! Duh! You try working while homeless. First of all who will hire a dirty, homeless person who smells? Nobody! But if given a few months rent so they can get into a safe home & clean themselves and take care of their basic needs, then provide job placement, that's what would end homelessness. There are people who are drug users & alcoholics but there are others who just fell on some hard times and if given a chance, they'd be able to become productive members of society once again!

How sad this is, my heart goes out to her & the dog, she's out of the abusive home but into another vulnerable place out on the streets. Dear God please help this lady, no one deserves this. Family members must step up more & help. At least help her long enough until she can get on her own feet.

This is a reason why I woudln't want a pet, if you ever become homeless or have to move, it is very hard to bring the pet. I don't see why a landlord would refuse a sweet little dog like that. A lot of places make you pay high pet rent and deposits and insist on expensive vet visits. It seems people used to mind their own business more and let others live their lives. Now everything you do is so controlled.

maria a Kids are far more damaging to a property, and more of a nuisance, than pets ever are. I think more housing needs accommodation for pets and a “no child” policy, tbh.

Hygge Musings - Would we as fellow "human beings", like to be treated like that? Regardless if mankind is demising in values and compassion, which is evident in this video, I believe in treating other human beings as I would like to be treated. With dignity and respect for their welfare as I would my own or yours. Otherwise we become "no better" than those "bad" uncaring people. It could be us or a loved one on the streets - tragedy and adverse circumstances can strike anyone. Would animals in that circumstance be more important with humans being less equal of deserving compassion then? No. We need to put ourselves in their shoes. It is not my or anyone else's place to judge this woman. She is a fellow human who deserves the dignity of a roof

She said in the video that she has friends and family, @ her friends and family: ...SHAME ON YOU FOR NOT HELPING HER!!! I don't know how y'all sleep at night!!!! Even if you only gave her and her little dog a BASEMENT it would still be better for her!!! c''mon y'all, step up to the plate and help her out for heaven's sake!!! We will ALL be rewarded or punished for what we do, or don't do to help out our fellow human beings!!!! Even MORE so when it's your FAMILY Member!!!

This just made me bawl. I am in a really difficult place right now and am considering becoming homeless on the streets of London for a temporary period. I have already been raped (by a so called friend) but terrified by that aspect in particular. I could just about deal with the cold but I really would be scared about my dog getting ill so I would fear I would have to leave him with a relative for the time being which breaks my heart completely.

This is very eye opening, I am very thankful for this video. I sympathize a lot with homeless people, and do help them when I can. Honestly, before watching this video - I quietly disagree when I look at homeless people with pets as I love animals too. It is very selfish of me to forget that pets are family and people get lonely too, and their pets are all they’ve got. I am sorry. Thank you so much for this video. Watching this made me cry of how ignorant I was. God bless.
