In a neighborhood near Chattanooga, Tennessee, one home stands out since it has hundreds of amazon packages spread across its lawn. A neighbor says new boxes arrive daily -and many of the ones outside are half full or empty. People who live in the area have contacted the police and city and written notes to the people who live in the home. So why are the packages piling up?

@@Dan-di9jd ding ding ding, fraud should have been the first thought to the officers. More than likely this is a "knock off" satellite office. Basically these goods are shipped from China and then sorted at a "facility" like this one. See, legally it is no crime to have this kind of product so long as *you* are not selling it. Once it is delivered to the distribution center (typically old storage facilities in larger cities. Once they are here you then have 5-8 employees that will fence these goods all over the city. So crazy to see this as an open story on the news while affluent people complain about the boxes, completely unaware of it being an integral part of the chain... literally the distribution point from across the great pond, sitting in a suburban neighborhood.

This is the equivalent of not mowing your grass and letting it grow out like a foot. It looks messy and dirty and brings down the value of the house and those around it. Do you really want to move somewhere where the neighbors don’t take care of their yards? No, it’s messy and unappealing. Most importantly, as I mentioned, houses with dirty yards bring down the values of houses in that area, it’s real estate. You are devaluing your neighbors houses. Very disrespectful. Can't agree. If I lived next door to guy with the packages I'd go crazy. The guy that says let them be probably has a sloppy looking yard too. We're the kind of people who shovel everyone's driveways when it snows. We cleaned the gutters, planted Esther's garden and mowed her lawn for 11 years for free before she died. We just helped our elderly nextdoor neighbor rake her leaves to the road. None of our neighbors are slobs and we are all like a family.

No this is what happens when you abuse Amazon's 90-day policy you see those packages belong to people and those people were on businesses and when you send those packages back trying to scam Amazon you scam people and then those packages have to go somewhere because you have Amazon FBA and Amazon fbm it cost to hold your packages in the FBA fulfillment facility so now they have to let those packages stack up they have to take the income loss and then they have to send them back to Amazon and host the Amazon can liquidate whatever is in those packages if the same item is even in those packages that's what happens it's privilege entitlement f**** up the system

Not a bad gig you can’t honestly try everything out .what Ever they don’t get around to testing list it online and sell it and pay a person to do the job and perhaps donate the rest to needy families .. there is always a way to use what you have been blessed with to give back to others not so lucky

It could be fulfillment by Amazon damage/ return items. I used to work for a third party retailer and you can have damaged items returned. Amazon charges the sellers a disposal fee for damaged/ returned unsalable items. Amazon then packages those items up by the shipping container and sells it at auction. ( Off point but it always ticked me off on that they double/ triple dipped and the seller takes a power wash) the thing is the damage returns * can* still be of value but they need sorted and gone through. You wouldn't believe what boardgame parts, videogame manuals, case art, damaged pop figures and good condition boxes gora for. I could see that being the case here. Literally cheaper to pile the boxes up and let thieves take them all than to either have Amazon dispose of it or pay for a dumpster pickup.

Those are random little items that are worth pennies to a dollar. But the Amazon sellers that do this are from China and need positive reviews so USA buyers can trust and buy items from them. I thought it was when the Chinese sellers have inventory in US warehouses and get banned. They can either have it thrown away or shipped to a warehouse where they will then re-barcode it and sell as a different seller. But the these major Chinese sellers don’t want to ship it all the way back to China and then back to the US, so they make a deal with someone in the US that will do it for a commission. You never know, always sketchy things in amazon sellers 😔

I believe this scam is called "brushing." But it's usually or used to be a package delivered to any random customer who didn't order it. This is a scam for the seller to write fake reviews for higher product ratings, thereby manipulating buyers into buying a product that has otherwise low ratings or not marketable. The seller also swaps a pricey product for a cheap one. For example, last year around holiday season, we received a case of soda we didn't order. And that's how we learned about this scam. Looks like in this case, the seller sends to only one address. And the seller actually has a contract with the owners to use their property? It's illegal. It should be reported to Amazon, which is supposed to do something about it. This case is extreme, verging on "illegal dumping" or some sort of citation if it were another city.

They are lying. It is likely that this is a scam operation where they are writing fake reviews. If the packages had any value they wouldn't be sitting out in the yard like that. The way it works is they order something on amazon from an independent seller. They pay $5. The seller sends them an empty package. They write a fake positive review. The seller then reimburses them for the $5 and sends them an extra $5 for their trouble. Since Amazon gets a cut either way, Amazon benefits from the scam and will do nothing about it. Since the person writing the review is offering an opinion, which is covered by the first amendment, nothing can be done about that. Since paying someone to offer an opinion is also covered by the first amendment, nothing can be done about that and finally the only victim legally is the person who has the packages piled up and they have been compensated so no crime has taken place. They are in an unincorporated part of the county so there is no code to enforce that would ban the packages so there is nothing that can be done.
