I remember Neighbours was great up till around 1995/96 when it started to become very teenage focused and the storylines became silly. It's never really been the same since. The characters were much better in the 80s/early 90s, the stories more exciting and dramatic and the incidental music was good.
@monicanath48595 жыл бұрын
Fonejacker I totally agree with you! The original caste kept it so interesting and genuine!

Totally agree. I realise this post was 7 years ago, but soaps have become so much worse and even more focused on youngsters. It's actually made for young people now.

Neighbours in the 80s to mid 90s was the best, thou 1993 -early 1996 is my fave era (up to where cody dies). New episodes are just too sensational, full of killers/murders and all seems too "produced" and forced.
@najbritcol3 жыл бұрын
I disagree - those years in the 90's when Harold was presumed dead were really "los anos perdidos".

Why did they bother making Julie Mullins look older for the character? Julie was only supposed to be in her late twenties at this time anyway. It's like they wanted us to believe she was Debbie's real Mum by making Debbie call her Mum every five minutes. Which I always thought was strange as Debbie was old enough to remember her real Mum.

I remember when Jim died, but his "partner" Fiona didn't help him, she started to ring 0000 but hang the phone up and left the house. Was Fiona never cought about it?
@Wim26007 жыл бұрын
Sigurdur H. Alfhildarson - No, she wasn't… she did indeed get away with it, and fled the country with all of Jim's money, having cleared his bank accounts before his death was discovered. However, karma caught up with her not that long after, when she also suddenly died (off-screen). Her daughter Annalise then inherited what was left of Jim's money and wanted to return it to the Robinsons, but I can't remember whether they accepted it.
@Renwick195 жыл бұрын
I do remember watching the episode tho it would have been in vein as Jim died on the kitchen floor of Number 26 he would have already been dead by the time the ambulance had arrived . Tho Fiona Hartman was a heartless women who never even attempted to save Jim

That was a little odd, because making her look older meant she was really too old to be Jim's (supposed) daughter.

I remember that. She was dressed up in step-daughter Debbie's school uniform to try to make the impotent Philip 'perform'... doubt those sort of shenanigans would be screened these days.
