That music takes me right back. Neighbours should commission an orchestral soundtrack composition again, but they have changed the show so dramatically that it would probably be laughed at these days unfortunately.

I remember seeing this on BBC1 back in 1995 I think and considering I was only 8 years old at the time, this was a quite shocking scene to watch when you’re so young. You can understand having the memory block when your own mum during the night has just fallen her death. The character did have her really annoying moments particularly during the last year when she did all these really insane thing’s

@TF80s

@@thomaslodge8990 yeah, l agree.. Helen's reaction to Julie's death was horrible. It was written & played out more like Philip was her grandson with Julie just being his crazy, overbearing wife. I was really disappointed. Also how many of Philip's wives had to go crazy & die before people in that street start getting suspicious about him? Do we know if Ruth is still alive?

By the time Julie was killed off, both the characters on the show as well as viewers watching the series shed few tears over her demise. That's because the writers over time had turned Julie from a loving wife and mother to a whining, self pity excuse of a woman who got on people's nerves and wore their patience out. Instead of feeling grief, everyone (audiences included) felt relief that she was gone.

Tom K - I found Julie unbearable in the later stages of her time on the show. I blame that on the writers. In much the same way that Pauline became on Eastenders when she left. A woman who had become a misery to all those around her
