Neighbours came back on Amazon Freevee earlier this year with most of the same cast. Just recently 85 year old Ian Smith, who played Harold Bishop, confirmed he was going to be a full time cast member again for the first time since 2009, having decided he was wrong to retire from acting.

My mum was one of those people who used to watch pretty much every soap going, and Neighbours was definitely one of her faves. She even had the proper VHS release of Scott & Charlene's wedding. Like you, Neighbours to me was something that was just "on". Never payed any real attention to it, but it just so happened to be on in the background. Funnily enough, i do own something Neighbours related. As a record collector I have the 7" single of Suddenly by Angry Anderson... the song that played as Scott & Charlene walked down the aisle! 😂

In the U.S. several soap operas had trading cards like Dallas and dark shadows . So there are super fans who like to collect things .

@@oddpodshow in Texas they have literally made the the ranch that house from the tv show Dallas based the main house on in to a exact copy of the sets from the show and museum you can visit and buy Dallas merch.

Not Stingray, but Toadfish. Famous for his really long rattail hairstyle. Oh and Neighbours was hugely popular with British children in the late 80s, which is why the repeats, which were originally the next morning at about 10am, where moved to 5:35pm the same day to ensure they could watch it, as it had made the news that truancy had shot up due to kids wagging school to watch it. It's amazing to think that in the Kylie/Jason era Neighbours was getting up to 20 million viewers a day!

I've always liked Neighbours, even now it stands out at being the one soap that isn't just a constant barrage of missery, far more sillyness and every day stuff goes.

I’m surprised you didn’t do mask trading cards or stickers with the current theme you’ve bin doing or how about some super human samurai syber squad pogs . As you can still find sealed pog packs of those pretty cheap . And the show is on KZbin if want to check it out

I just put up my bros Sony spectacular. Including a special short I made of spidy hitting a finisher on Skeletor . Also have you marathoned all the bill and Ted movies ? And thought of getting some of those trading cards and opening them . Also trading cards for the tv show Dallas where thing but I’m not sure who collection them .

Card 1: Daphne Lawrence/Clarke (Elaine Smith) and baby Card 2: Des Clarke (Paul Keane) and Daphne Lawrence/Clarke (Elaine Smith) Card 3: Harold Bishop (Ian Smith) and Madge Ramsay/Mitchell/Bishop (Anne Charleston) Card 4: Jim Robinson (Alan Dale) and Helen Daniels (the late Anne Haddy) Card 5: Jim Robinson (Alan Dale), Daphne Lawrence/Clarke (Elaine Smith) and Des Clarke (Paul Keane) Card 6: Helen Daniels (the late Anne Haddy) Des and Daphne were original characters, with Des being ditched in episode 1 by his fiance Lorraine on the eve of the wedding. Daphne was the stripper at his bucks party who came back the next day for a lost earring and ended up supporting Des after Lorraine had gone, then lodged with him, then eventually got together. I've only watched most of Series 1 so far, and whilst I already knew that Des and Daphne eventually got together I had no idea Des and Daphne eventually had a baby, so that was a little spoiler for me lol. Jim was the original Robinson patriach at the start of Neighbours, and the father of Paul (still in it on Amazon to this day), Julie, Scott and Lucy. Helen was his mother-in-law who had stepped into the maternal role when here daughter Anne, Jim's wife, had died giving birth to Lucy. Madge was the sister of the original patriach of the Ramsay family, Max, and came into it, along with a fictional brother, following the abrupt firing of Francis Bell who played Max Ramsay. Sadly Francis took his own life in the early 90s. Harold was also not an original character and was more or less a new arrival at the date of these cards, introduced as a love interest, and eventual husband, for Madge.

@@oddpodshow Strangely I was always a huge Home and Away fan back in the day, and only started watching Neighbours at all when I heard it was coming to an end. Then I started watching the first series as someone has uploaded them all to youtube.

I do love the original Home and Away theme by Mark Williams and Karen Boddington. I also have a soft spot for a version of the Neighbours theme that charted in the late 80s by a little-known singing legend called Dame Edna kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4i0Z3iroJWIibs
