Totally enjoyed this interview and getting to know Neil Carter as a person. In my teens and early 20's I adored Gary Moore and UFO's music, still do. I'm glad for him that he has a stong and sensible ethic and follows his instincts as they seem to have worked out very well for him.

Neil is an absolute legend, and a gentleman to boot. Great interview - sad that October 29th is the last gig, but what a legacy he leaves.

I saw Prof. Neil Carter play with UFO on the Last Orders tour in 2019. He is really quite a character and I think he upstaged Phil a tad bit. Of course, I am sure it was all in good fun. I definitely enjoyed his contributions to Gary Moore especially to "Empty Rooms"!!

Is it kind of odd that the last gig UFO will play is in Athens Greece, where back in 1983, Phil Mogg had a meltdown on stage (he had a few to many that night) on the Making Contact tour? It was soon after that the band broke up. Just an observation.

Back in 1983, when the band was promoting Making Contact, Phil had a few to many. During the concert, he had some issues with the words to songs. The crowd started throwing bottles on the stage and the show was stopped and the rest of the tour was canceled. They did a UK farewell tour a little later. Of course Phil got his act together and restarted the band in 1985. But as it turns out, sadly with Phil’s health now, these shows in Greece never took place.

Neil's a very talented musician. He makes every band he's in sound much better! Though, UFO did loose a lot when Schenker left. Chapman wasn't up to snuff for filling in his shoes. he band lost many fans. I hung around til Mechanix, but that's it. I'm sure that was the main reason Pete left. He just couldnt gel with Chapman. He massacred the schenker era tunes.

I get what he said about Ozzy but isn’t it true about any musician that the people around you make you great? Please don’t try and say that Ozzy was basically untalented… ?!?!
@carpenoctem7757 ай бұрын
A few years ago he was talking shit about Ozzy Osbourne. smh…. What a tool. He’s most likely jealous because he’s a non-original member of a band that never got that big. And Ozzy Osbourne is a legend.
@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle4 ай бұрын
he should....Ozzy is a clown. Why is he a tool for speaking truth? How about he simply does not get the appeal of Ozzy, he gets the band who he was very complimentary of. His comment is not unlike what Rik Emmett just said....Ozzy is a clown, he is not essential to the music, People came to see that bamd Ozzy is a lowlife POS who has ripped people off lied about his contributions and tried to kill his wife

Let me preface by saying I was, & still am a HUGE Sabbath fan, and I put "Blizzard of Ozz", & "Diary of a Madman" right up there with the greatest hard rock albums of all time! Ultimate Sin with Jake, & Zakk's 1st "No rest for the Wicked. That said, I have seen Ozzy 4 times, 2 solo, 2 Sabbath, & he was terrible, dreadful. Thank God I am a guitar geek, & appreciate tight rock musicianship because if not for Jake E. Lee, Tony Iommi & Geezer, & Zakk Wylde's performances, I would have walked out of all of those shows! I never got the "Prince of Darkness" moniker as well, but for different reasons, mainly it was the the sequin outfits Ozzy wore that looked like Sharon raided "Siegfried & Roy's" or Liberace's closets! In Sabbath Geezer wrote the lyrics, its well known Bob Daisley, Some by Jake E. Lee, Lemmy, and who knows after that...? I have to say Neil saying he doesn't get "it" but also said something that shows he does get it, Ozzy is likeable & funny, likeability & image often contributes more to success than talent, especially when surrounded by talent. That's why Ozzy has had more success than U.F.O., than R.Dio (R.I.P.) that's why artist like Motley with Vince, groups like Florida Georgia Line, Larry the Cable Guy, Dwayne the Rock" etc...are be so huge. Artistic integrity seldom has much to do with stardom in the Entertainment industry, & while I think Sharon's tactics, and Ozzy's complacency in cheating writers & performers out of credit & monetarily who were crucial to Ozzy's success are deplorable, I recognize Sharon is his wife & his manager, so if any musician thought they would be treated fairly, or that their interest were being looked out for, they were just naive, for Christ's sake Sharon's Dad Don Arden was her mentor! "The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes" -Arthur Conan Doyle-

those two Blizzard of ozz albums, are metal albums that changed the game, Diary is arguably the greatest album ever written. Those who have seen Ozzy and are honest, know he is just a lovable clown who is going to be lucky to sing in key.

What he doesn't realize is he makes himself look like crap going after Ozzy, and I'm not going to diminish what UFO has done, they've been in the industry for 50 years, I'm not a fan, but they have my respect, but why cast shade on Ozzy to try and elevate yourself, and picking a fight with The Godfather of Metal isn't too bright.
@knightfall9394 Жыл бұрын
He’s not picking a fight nor trying to elevate his career, he’s speaking the truth and not bullshitting & ass kissing like so many do with ozzy. You know its been pretty common knowledge for years now that ozzy doesn’t write his own songs (lyrics too) and has relied on many others to do so. Also ozzy is not the godfather of metal that title goes to tony iommi
@jasonnielsen5976 Жыл бұрын
@@knightfall9394 You're certainly entitled to your opinion, I respectfully disagree with you on this, Tony had every bit of a monumental impact as Ozzy did, but you're talking about a man who has made significant contributions to 5 decades of music

Ozzy and Sharon are thieves. Iommi is the reason anyone knows who Ozzy is. Sharon used this fame to get him young talent and ripped them off and stole from them. Bark at the Moon "All songs written and composed by Ozzy Osbourne" gimme a break lmao. But what choice did Jake E. Lee have? Refuse giving Ozzy sole credit and go back to serving fries or give him the credits and go on a world tour?
