"Stones" is still my favorite Neil Diamond album. I saw him several times but the show he did in support of this album still stands out as one of his best!

Randy Newman regards Neils version of this song the best. Rightly so. After so many years I still got the goose bumps.

There's no question about it. Neil's version of I Think It's Going To Rain Today, IS THE BEST. Thanks for uploading. You may wish to check out my selection of Neil songs, including the recent video, Practically Newborn.

This version was first recorded by Neil for his album "Stones" in 1971 and has appeared on a number of compilation albums since, including 'Rainbow', and the 2005 album referred to by Alyce Henley- and the American album with the actual title "Gold" was recorded live at the troubadour in Hollywood-The 2005 'Gold' referred to here is a compilation by a label Neil originally never signed to-Geffen Records.

So do I - and the CD. Guess I got rid of the taped version. So many changes in how we listen to music but the music stays the same.

In my humble opinion thats his best album...
@kathnh67953 жыл бұрын
@@stacyjett5399 I agree. He was so great, then. Less of a showman, but more of a singer; an artist who interpreted music so well.

Randy probably like this version because of the horns at 1:22 - 1:34 that are very Aaron Copland sounding. Randy comes from a line of great composers who respect the classical tradition of music. I'd love to know which arranger did that part. This is not to diminish Neil's spectacular vocal.

Lee Holdridge arranged and conducted the strings and horns on this track and most of the Stones album.

Will these two songs now belong to Universal, too? ND is not the author!
