I realise that this video is following ever so closely on the heels of my previous video - 'Prelude in E major/Anthem (Sanctus)/Theme', but when inspiration broaches one, one accedes. This song has long been on my _"To Do"_ list, but until a couple of weeks ago, I didn't quite feel the urge to do it. This may well be the final video in the series of songs from Hot August Night 1972. I saw, and drew the connection between Neil's observation that, _"God is the scenery maker tonight!"_ and the opening lines... _"Listen easy, you can hear God callin'"._ So glad that you will be viewing this video over and over again, bless you. Beautiful song, delivered with passion. I have loved this version for decades. Us kids bought the HAN album (vinyl) as a present for my father in the 70s - probably when it was new. It was played repeatedly, so we learned all the words as children. I bought the CD about 15 years later and gifted it him again. I still sing many of these songs to myself, particularly "The Grass Won't Pay no Mind", "Canta Libre", "Morning Side", "Play Me" but I also loved the playful "Porcupine Pie" and "You're so Sweet", not to mention the bigger hits. Thank you Neil Diamond - you have truly been a pleasurable soundtrack to my family's life. (Dad's now 85!)

Hot August Night was the first Neil Diamond concert that I attended, and remember sitting there during the Prologue trying to process why there was classical music playing! The stage doors were closed at the time and at one point I looked at my wife and jokingly asked, "are you sure we're in the right place"? When the Prologue reached it's suspended climax and the acoustic guitar began playing, i looked at my wife again and said, "here we go" ! The stage doors began to open as red smoke poured out, a full orchestra and band became visible , then Neil Diamond cooley strolled on stage, picked up his guitar and began singing Crunchy Granola Suite! The Prologue is the greatest introduction to the greatest concert of all time, no question about it....

You're very welcome Doug. My long term memory seems to serve me well, as I still remember details from the James Brown, Chuck Berry, and several Motown concerts that I attended in the 60s. However, I can't remember where I put my car keys half the time, so it looks like my short term memory leaves a lot to be desired. The beeper thing is a good idea Doug, except I would probably forget where I put that too. Actually, the memory thing isn't that bad, I usually have Neil Diamond music playing and sometimes when I go to get something from another room, I start singing along and forget what I went there for, but eventually remember! When Neil performed those Hot August Night concerts back in 1972, he did so from the point of view that he was about to take a sabbatical, he wanted to leave his fans and the world with... _"We will do things for you that_ _you will not forget for a while..."_ So glad that you spotted that the intro to my video is indeed from "Be" of Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
