That was the first Neil Diamond album I bought with money earned from babysitting. There was nobody else's albums I would have EVER considered spending that money on. I still have that album, in fact, and I'm 60-something. I played that album over and over and over, again. It is a rare Neil Diamond song that I don't know all the words to. I was obsessed with that man and his music.

exactly same for me first album bought14 years old, obdession, more than a year before buying another LP.now nearly 65 years old dear lady Jane!

I just wish there was a video of that concert. The last song (Brother Love) still blows me away.

@@randygerdes … By a long way, THE most incredulously brilliant ‘take’ on that song - more of a ‘grande finale to a suite’ in itself, the whole of side four. Even Neil’s encore is note perfect in every way - especially the great Richard Bennett’s electric lead-guitar vamp … if only they had left an extra 30 seconds on of that ‘full-on’ rock n’ roll !! The most exhilaratingly masterful performance and performer on the self-same greatest ‘in-concert’ recording. No-one else approached Neil’s complete artistry .

Unbelievable album! Just restored a Tascam cassette deck. 4 days in a row listening at least through it once per day. It is an overwelming performance! Have the original lp to. All the great music has been done. I keep hoping for the next wave of superior artist but I gave up 20 plus years ago. Thanks Neil Diamond for an out of the park fantastic record!

The original Hot August Night is the difinitive Neil Diamond album. This was also the first concert of the rock era to be performed in quadrophonic stereo. The resulting sound separation on the record is simply incredible. The album also has historical importance as it captures the essence of one of the most dynamic all round entertainers of our time at the height of his creative powers.

I was one of the tree people at the Hot August night concert at the Greek Theater. The show was outstanding.

@@ChadStormTheAftermath How do you want me to elaborate? A lot of us were sitting on tree limbs watching him sing at the Greek Theater. The main one was Hot August Night. How else do you want me to elaborate. Not much more to say except, the tree people got to hear and see Neal for free.

Graduated from Lincoln High School in Brooklyn NY with Neil Diamond !! Didn’t know of him back then,but I sure do now !! Have been a fan of his for a long time. 💕

I love Neil Diamond. My brother was a fan first. I heard his records as a teenager and later became a great fan myself. His music has a lot of heart and tells stories well.

Neil,,, what a legend. Lucky to have seen 2 fantastic concerts. One i took my Mum to as a surprise. Special moment that was. Love you Neil Diamond

This is so great…..Jimmy so funny…..Neil the consummate entertainer and human being….. in charge …… the saber conversation…… to keep Jimmy in line …… priceless !!!!!!!
