I so adore this beautiful individual . The world is a better place because of him. Thank you, Neil Leslie diamond. You are your own person and we the public are better for it. You always speak to your audience as if you know us individually and that takes a real person to do that. You aren't rock and roll because it is not who you are. You are a true artist and a perfect gentleman. I love you for who you are. I have been blessed greatly by you. Thank you.

reptilicus975 Technically - he's "Easy Listening". The group was invented for John Denver in the mid 1970's and became the most used group in music - damn near everybody was "Easy Listening" sooner or later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But with that voice - when he was born - God pointed to him and said a single word: "Singer"!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if he KNOWS.. when I was 13, a frightened kid, looking for mushrooms in the North Timber. Iowa, just a kid... and I would sing outloud and to myself.. " AND WHEN I HURT, HURTING RUNS OFF MY SHOULDERS, HOW CAN I HURT WHEN LOVING YOU" and those lyrics, and that BEAUTIFUL TUNE he sang, SAVED ME! it GAVE ME HOPE that maybe I wAS OK. Thank you Neil DIAMOND for that, and so many other songs. You don't know me, but you touched me deeply. Brooklyn Roads.... and on it goes. WHAT A GIFT you are to SO many,, I am one.

I was 15--dad died, older brother died--"Stones." "And she would ache for love and get but stones..." and then "Lordy, child , A good day's comin' And I'll be there to let the sun in And bein' lost is worth the comin' home." Saved my life in 1973, saved my life in 2019. Neil has a way of reaching down into my very soul and exposing my deepest feelings. Wonderful man, wonderful music.

So Neil Diamond's first answer is "my hands were tied behind my back creatively speaking by Industry commercial types who are not going for what's great...but what is popular in the moment". Wow...i'd happily search back through Neil's creations back catalogue of creations in that first period...BETTING THERE WERE SOME ABSOLUTELY STONKING SONGS RIGHT THERE...ohhhh, the material we must have missed". Neil...please go back to that drawer and take out 100 songs(narrow them down to three albums with YOUR choices), release them Independently and i'll happily book my copies of three albums right now...any other takers? THE REAL NEIL'S CREATIVE ZEAL DEALs..there's an album cover title for albums 1, 2 and 3 for ya!!!

I identify with what he's talking about because I've said those words myself. You can't understand writing unless it's in your blood and you love that the blood is pumping through your brain and the encouragement yet annoyance sometimes that the WORDS will push you to. Like he said, "There's a song." I KNOW that so well. It's good to hear one of my Top 5 say this. It was freeing!
