it still amazes me how people didn't "get" them back in the early 90's.. (well some of us did, but everyone else was scratching their heads). I've never gone more than a few days without some Slowdive since seeing them live in 1992.
@shoegazer935 жыл бұрын
Best Band Ever in my opinion. I'm 26 years old. Only seen them since the reunion. Seen them 3 times. Twice in a small intimate venue and once in a large field. Didn't make a difference. Slowdive sounded incredible in both settings. Unreal band! Friendly people too! X

I swear they weren't marketed properly here in the US! Was very well aware of bands like MBV and Dinosaur Jr in the early 90s, but Slowdive didn't get the push that they deserved. Thank God for the comeback!

Honestly any band that released music around the early 90s and wasn't grunge just had very, very bad timing. But now that grunge is almost basically over now, we can appreciate these songs more.

Ya. While tuning into some music theory, I was introduced to the concept of "overtones" and its effect on sound. My sense is that from 15:53-15:55 and from 16:11-16:14, the overtone effect was most pronounced. The example presented by the teacher was a toy whistle on a string flung about circularly overhead generating frequencies which when overlapped at particular intervals produces the effect.

Us supporting and joining Neil Halstead for Alison last year, for a laugh. It's a different tuning and rhythm to the ones used on the original song.

@@erickguadarrama808 I'm not having this argument again. I now realise that some people consider "pop" a bad word. I don't. It may come down to culture, age or ideosyncratic taxonomy. I don't care. I believe Slowdive is a great indie pop band. If you believe otherwise, I won't argue with you.
@erickguadarrama8084 жыл бұрын
qupp75 I’m not trying to argue with you at all but the literal definition of pop music is popular music and slowdive definitely isn’t popular it’s not a bad thing also pop is a really big umbrella term so we have other words to be more specific like shoegaze dream pop (it’s called dream pop because of the style not popularity)
