I do not understand why Neil Shicoff is not on everyone's Greatest Tenors of the 20th Century List. Shicoff studied with Franco Corelli and his ability to lower his larynx to support his high notes is surely a result of his studies with Corelli. I heard him sing many times at the Met and, IMHO, he is as good, if not better, than ANY tenor I have heard since Corelli.

@@georgesoperaworld5898 From the first time I saw him in the opera house, back in his Chicago debut which was in Boheme back in 1979, and it was with both Bass Ramey and Soprano Mitchell, in their Chicago debut's also, I was deeply moved and impressed, of course, then Neil as a young tenor was not only very lyric but he could act and his high notes had a great ringing squillo that was easily heard live in house, far more apparent then on any of his recordings. In conversation with him, he is totally honest about his own voice and talent. some of his 1979 Chicago Boheme is on you tube, the aria in part and a 1984 Met. Boheme Che Gelida , I was at both performances (and many more, in many cities) and won't ever forget them.

@antonettaesposito11183 жыл бұрын
@carlodilauro32093 жыл бұрын

@carlogalbiati2448 Жыл бұрын
