Cardiff fan here. Worst match of my life. Was sitting in the pub beginning to believe we might actually stay up being 1-0 up in this game. Then the ‘goal’ happened. I have never felt so robbed and hurt in my life from football. So clearly offside. I walked home and cried which was a first for me. We went on to lose the game 2-1, with another awful decision happening minutes later when a red card should’ve been given. We were relegated by 2 points I believe. @@alphomega2459YOUR’E INTENTIONALLY MISSING THE POINT to obfuscate things with your argument. No one ever said that he as a coach or the team wouldn’t take responsibility for their own failings over the course of the season that might have led them to be in this place and facing the relegation as a consequence- but, that being said and now that they’re there and there’s nothing you can do about it (the past) at that point, in playing THIS game that did have individually particularly significant relevance to the consequences they faced, their playing here and their overall performance is not what caused them to have to face the final straw breaking in their fight to not be relegated, and in that way, they were hoping to kind of valiantly put forward a last ditch effort to rally the strength and sheer tenacity to hold on just this one last time right here for this (retrospectively godawful season, objectively speaking) WHICH THEY DID and this one (again objectively) *ABYSMAL* call in refereeing was literally the single deciding factor that tipped the balance negatively toward their relegation and left their own literal actual performance and reason for which that final decision SHOULD HAVE really been made (or not) totally invalidated and caused the relegation to be completely taken out of their own hands as far as their responsibility and effort they made toward preventing it absolutely irrelevant. You can’t simply separate this away from the entire rest of the season (interestingly like you’re saying) and act as if this one last game was completely immune then to the simple judgement that you’re using to reflect upon whether they had a good one or not and how that is relevant to their possible (at the time) relegation- you might have thought they earned it then and all the way up to this, but this still counts overall as a game that’s part of that entire season as a whole, and as such should have (and rightly in that way) been the holding on by their fingernails with their performance, sealer in the final decision of their fate at the end (after this game is over) of the season.

VAR isn’t being implemented correctly but it’s still better than this happening all the time. Phases of play need looked at as do the lines on offside calls. If it’s a toenail there is no clear advantage and not why the rule was made in the first place. We want more goals in the game. For phases of play things like offsides when corners are awarded which happens fairly often. If it’s tight they should flag and have it checked once the ball is out of play. Officials still need to do their job.
