this man is a genius. He looks like a bag man. If you seen him on the street i bet 99% of the people would think this man is a bum. Yet he is one of the greatest artists of my lifetime. I am very lucky to have been born in 61. I got to live through all these great artists. Its a shame they are dying out and you rarely hear their music on the radio anymore. Unless your on the oldies station. What a shame todays youth has zero clue of the music that is out there and is fading away. WHAT A SHAME!

Been a Neil fan ever since I was old enough to ‘understand’ and ‘feel’ music. Not just ‘listen’. 20 years old about to turn 21, and Neils hymns keep me going. Listened to him my whole life though, just really started appreciating him when I was in my young teens. There’s still some hope for humanity. 😉

I had just reached my teens when the Great Neil Young released Harvest. My god what an amazing litany of songs this master has penned, perhaps the absolute pinnacle of singer-songwriter capability and soul altering presentation. I was lucky enough to live near and in the Santa Cruz, Calif. area when he did a lot of, spur of he moment, el cheapo gigs for $5. in clubs around town. Holy crap I am one lucky guy, Thanks Neil, my life is better having lived it with your songs to hum.

I just remembered that the harmonium was given to me by my eldest brother when he went to Thailand to robe as a Buddhist monk in 1975. There are a lot of gentle people from those years and my brother and Neil Young are just two of them. p.s He is still a Buddhist monk and a wonderful person.

THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR SONGS NEIL HAS EVER SUNG, SO I AM HONORED TO SHARE THE LYRICS WITH ALL : Well, I dreamed I saw the knights In armor coming, Saying something about a queen. There were peasants singing and Drummers drumming And the archer split the tree. There was a fanfare blowing To the sun That was floating on the breeze. Look at Mother Nature on the run In the nineteen seventies. Look at Mother Nature on the run In the nineteen seventies. I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high. I was thinking about what a Friend had said I was hoping it was a lie. Thinking about what a Friend had said I was hoping it was a lie. Well, I dreamed I saw the silver Space ships flying In the yellow haze of the sun, There were children crying And colors flying All around the chosen ones. All in a dream, all in a dream The loading had begun. They were flying Mother Nature's Silver seed to a new home in the sun. Flying Mother Nature's Silver seed to a new home.......

If Bob Dylan was a man of his times, then Neil Young was a man of the future. When listening to this song, think of films like Intergalactic and the many others since that tell of a world polluted and destroyed by mankind and mankind's subsequent search for new worlds to inhabit.

It's wrong the way everyone turned on the guy. He went too far but when they start saying he's not any good or his music isn't meaningful anymore it's just too much. There has to be some respect for what people have done and who they are as human beings. Even if Young didn't even abide by that standard this time around there should be some grace given and understanding. This song is one of the most beautiful pieces the world has ever produced.

This message is to Neil, from a fellow Canadian, I have been that guy, laying In a burned out basement, staring at the sky.....love you're music man, hate your views....if it wasn't for people like me and many others, folks wouldn't have the right to express beautifull views through music. Its ok to sit atop the hill with millions of dollars and bitch about the rich(you see the irony here). Truly though its those of us who volunteer to serve the greater good, hoping for peace in the world, doing our on hands best to help others, that will never get rich, we pay. be well

+paul schutt Paul, I understand where you are coming from....I once got into an ugly ordeal with Joan Baez, she was pretty drunk, I will give her that. I have been an inner city school teacher at a high school with 93% poverty for 29 years now. Primarily, I feel she started shit with me because I am a white male.....I look very much like a worn inner city school teacher, and all I could think about were all of the photo ops that Joan had accomplished over the years...pictured in N Vietnam, Castro, Labor, salt of the earth.....and I sincerely question all of that now as it pertains to her anyway. I think some are sincere, can't blame a person for making an economic fortune, and Neil does often appear to be involved in various social causes. I grew up listening to Joan since I was a kid in the 60s....owned all her records and saw her plenty of times. Haven't been able to listen to her since.
