In the hallway between classes, stand off to the side for a moment or two. Look for someone with their head down, avoiding eye contact and just putting one foot in front of the other. My 103-year-old mom just died yesterday. I spent a lot of time with her at her residence over the last two years and one of things we really enjoyed was playing this song and singing along together. She loved it. Yesterday, just hours before she passed, my sister and I played it once last time for her. Even in her semi-conscious agitated state, this song brought a smile to her lips and she was moving her arms in time to the beat. Doubt this will be read, but I’d like to share it. I’m 13 years old and this summer, as I was walking back from the beach to my beach house, my father was playing this song. It was only him and I, and we had a really nice conversation. Hearing Neil Young sing was like something I’ve never heard before. As we arrived to the house, I asked my dad the song name. I then discovered, “Harvest Moon.” I listen to this song every other day. It takes me back to the conversation, back to the summer, and most importantly, back to when times were easy. 8th grade has been a hard year so far. Listening to this song is the only thing keeping me sane. Thank you Neil Young for this song.

One evening my husband and I were at the local hole in the wall when someone played this on the old juke box. He started dancing with me and told me this was us - this is our song. Years later when we saw the video we couldn't believe it. This really was us. The kind of places we went, looked like a bunch of our friends all out on a Saturday night. Baby I miss you so much. My family and I camped for years over the Fourth of July weekend with a group of friends. Over time, the kids grew up, and the friends lost interest or moved away. But I’ll never forget our beautiful daughter pointing at the big, bright moon and saying “see the moon, mommy, see the moon!?” But she died of brain cancer at age five in 1998. And now my wife is also gone. Life does have a way of passing us by.

How to explain this? This was my wife's & my song... She & I would play play this beautiful song non stop on a road trip and never tire of it. She passed away on 11.11.2020. I had it played at her funeral, together with Nick Cave "Into My Arms". I’ve loved this song from when I was a little kid and it came out. My dad would put it on when we were camping and I’d fall asleep to it, he always said it was impossible to be mad when listening to it. Now I’m listening to this song while my wife is in labor for our first daughter on September 20th, 2021, during the harvest moon. Feels like things have come full circle.

This song reminds of my mother so much, tears me up. She was diagnosed with soft-tissue Sarcoma in her leg, one of the rarest cancers. She was so graceful and strong, despite how sick she felt. When the Dr told her she might not be able to keep her leg and may be in a wheel chair the rest of her life, but she would always play this song, it's one of her favorites. We used to say we're going to see you dance again someday mom. Her warrior spirit didn't allow her to give up, she found remission and got to keep her leg. Dancing again to this beautiful work of art.🌚🌜💃🎵🎶

the last night before i left for my freshman year of college my boyfriend and i were sitting in the car preparing ourselves for long distance. he told me to get out of the car and closed the door behind me. i stood outside underneath the light from the lamppost and moon and waited for him to get out too. he rolled down the and put this song on. we danced underneath the moonlight while this song played in the background. singing and dancing together has to be my favorite memory ever. this will forever be our song and i could not be more grateful! thank you neil for countless memories!
