I know. This a simple, yet haunting song, from a child's viewpoint. Here, the child knows important, but basic truths. Like: "I AM a child." I think, he (the child) is questioning whether the parent IS REALLY an adult. Interesting that color plays so importantly in the song. Does the child know that "Black" is NOT a color, but the absence of color? Does the child know that almost anything burned, turns to grey? Grey is much different than a blue sea and blue sky. Also, had the child seen somewhere, racist images? Is Black, a skin color?
