Its really important to visualise the shot when up and look at that when you get down into the stance and step in. I found I wasn't visualising and looking generally at where I need to hit a point on the ball. Problem is I was then trying to visualise when down but my body was aligned incorrectly. By visualising and concentrating on the line all the way down your body will naturally fall into place with cue arm exactly in line (with no possiblility of cue across it)

hello frank .......its what ever works for the individual ........people who have a good potting eye find it easier with 1/4 etc .......where as players who find potting difficult find it easier with something to aim at.............they both work its which one works for the individual.............thanks for the great comment frank

Neil - Thank you for the outstanding educational series - it has been a big help with some of my problems. One area I have great difficulty with is during a match occasionally I lose focus and can make terrible misses on very easy shots.....or sometimes I will feel pressure, tighten up and start to play really crappy. Any tips or suggestions to help my mental game would be appreciated Regards joe

You can only visualise the line if your eyes have transferred between object ball and pocket and white. If you haven't got the line before you play the shot get up and start preparations again. I was playing shots where I have not visualised odd angles and was missing them every time.

HI Neil how r u?I just was wanting to know with the stance do you put your right foot in line with the line from the cue ball to the aim point of the object ball?

This system is very hard..the problem is highlighted by angled shots..its hard to walk round the table and keep that exact spot in the exact place. Ghost ball tracking edge lines are better for me. please let me know what you feel about centre to edge?

So when aiming, do you keep your eyes on the target ball or on the cue ball?

you're eyes alternate from one to the other but on the final backswing ......you're eyes should be focused on the spot you need to hit on the objectball

Neil what do you think about the Aramith practice ball as a teaching aid i was thinking of buying it graeme
@neilmaxman
@neilmaxman 9 жыл бұрын
***** hello Graeme......im not a big fan of teaching aids most if not all are a waste of money .....if theres a certain shot you struggle with ...chances are its a technical fault .....if its potting problems there are potting routines that will help.....hope this answers your question neil

This video would have been a lot better if you had showed it the other way round, you could then show us where your actually hitting the black ball, potting the red balls in this video is easy enough, its looking for the contact point on angled shots I'd like you to show i.e show a close up shot of where we have to make contact on the black ball.

Kash Mahmood 1 second ago It's all to do with shadows/light , everything about drawing imaginery lines and pretending every shot is a plant is bull. The point of contact is the point furthest from the pocket. Ronnie O Sullivan didn't knock in a 147 in 5 mins by visualising and imaging balls and objects balls projected travel. The shadows and light on the ball tells you where to strike for the relevant pocket. Try it!

Your absolutely correct :) there's a snooker training video on KZbin made by Terry Griffiths in 1996 and what the pros do is learn the full ball, quarter ball, and half ball shots so that they are engrained in their memory so as soon as they take a shot they know what type of shot without having to think. It's mainly subconscious automated patterns. That's why practice makes it all happen. Visualization too works but only to get the line of things. The pros just get on and do it unless they enounter a new tricky long or swerve or 'snooker' that's possibly then when they visualize...
