This appears to be based off the second generation Subaru BRAT (acronym for “Bi-drive Recreational All-terrain Transporter”) That was made for the 1982-1994 model years. The rear seats were available at the time in real life. These cars were a blast to drive, even better while riding in the rear seats. Nice to see it in Beam NG Drive.

The rear seats were standard on American versions, since they increased the seating capacity to make it meet the U.S. government's definition of a passenger vehicle. If they weren't there, the BRAT would have been subject to the massive tariff placed on imported pickup trucks and cargo vans (a.k.a. "The Chicken Tax"). Other carmakers have come up with various workarounds over the decades, like installing the cargo beds on pickups at the port of entry, or importing only passenger vans and converting some of them to cargo vans by removing the rear seats and shipping them back to the country of origin to be reinstalled in new vans.

The wheels must use a custom texture. Once the vehicle loads in, just press ctrl + r to get all of the custom textures in.

yup. this is a 0.30 issue, not a problem with the mod. it's affected other mods too and it comes back after clearing cache. ctrl + shift + r fixes it for me, sometimes takes a couple tries.

It’s because the materials are still .png files instead of .dds. With the latest update it struggles to load in .png files for some reason

The Subaru BRAT pickup was a small, light utility pickup truck sold in the US from 1978 to 1987. As a response to the market demand of the times for car-like pickup trucks, Subaru vehicles produced the BRAT (Bi-Drive Recreational All-Terrain Transporter) for an audience that wanted something a little different.

Awesome car, I guess I'm gonna have to buy this. Also, this is inspired by the Subaru BRAT, also known as the Brumby, MV Pickup or Shifter depending on where it was sold. And your definition of Ute is technically wrong here, Ute is short for Utility vehicle and is what Australians call any Pickup truck, the thing is that the Australians, specifically Holden (RIP), are famous for having designed cars with a loading area in the back, very much like this one or the El Camino, they were also available with a closed loading area and are called Vans, in fact Australia basically doesn't have what Americans would call Vans. Also 9:19 It just being a 'normal car' is what makes this awesome, that's what we want more of in BeamNG, being the most realistic car simulator what's the point of having outlandish cars?

switch on the steering wheel is a seperate circuit to turn the parking lights on and off. off position: you turn the key and stop the engine then take the key out and your parking lights switch off automaticly on position: you turn the key and stop the engine then take the key out and your parking lights are still on you dont need to worry about an empty battery if you leave the lights on on your lightstock behind the steering wheel. thats pretty cool.

Someone needs to mod in an old boxer engine from the piccolina, but add water cooling. Then it would be closer to what it's modeled after, the subaru brat. The rotoray engine doesn't cut it for me. I own an 82 and an 86 and was excited to see this and the amount of detail that was put into this mod. It's amazing.

On the tire it said importing texture which means that the game after a minute or two the texture would have been imported and that wesird texture would not be there and the original texture would be on the tire

The drag version must be a 4 cyl turbo, and thus need to be spooled on the two step to get any acceleration out of it.

If ya having trouble, "Ute" is pronounced "YOOT", and the word split up means utility coupe, since it's a 2-door 2 seater, though here in Australia, if it has a bed and isn't a truck, we call it a ute.

Yeah, Subi Brat, amazingly cool vehicles. Had a jumpseat in the "ute" bed, just to beat the chicken tax. Look it up kiddies. Yeah, jump seats are fine, just no-one does it cuz there's not much of a market for it. People want their A/C systems lol. The Brat is/was anything but "normal".

A current example of dodging the 25% chicken tax is the Ford Transit cargo van; they build them overseas with windows and rear seats, then strip out the rear seats and replace the windows with metal panels as soon as they roll off the boat. I guess there is no requirement that the vehicle have seats when you sell it, only when it clear customs.
