Teenager in the 70s, Southern California. Great time for being young and listening to this.
@sendmail2valerie Жыл бұрын
I miss the 70s it was a unique time. I graduated 79. I remember some great times. Neil was putting his heart into the best music; it was unique and defined an era. There was stupid songs like Disco duck, loving you, and others. Yet, there was greatness too that came out of the 60s and 70s. I was too young in the 60s but in the 80s I made it my mission to listen to a lot of 60s music. It was unique too a lot of music experimentation. Music like this fills and inspires our souls... I still listen to this, but I do listen to music of today too. Some of the newer music does start to sound a like but not 60s and 70s. They etched a new pattern and I cherish their extraordinary innovative vision and rare distinctive styles!!! PS - I am also from Southern California! Grew up in Hollywood, San Fernando valley, and Simi valley California..

So many great lyrics…. Ol man take a look at my life… his life was filled with parasites and countless idol threats…it doesn’t mean that much to me to mean that much to you, ….blue moon sinking from the weight of the load… red means run son, numbers add up to nothing…paddles cut the waters…. Neil Young’s body of work is no less than Dylan. And after all, there’s Dylan n Hendrix… everybody else just trying to get there….Neil Young did it.

It aint all that clear to us native speakers anyway… whats our excuse😅. The way i see it is the first verse uses vague non-descript language while the second verse is more descriptive despite the subject matter being relatively the same. Perhaps the solo represents the passage of time between different eras, yet the same struggles. Idk im not a particular smart person, nor old enough to have grown up understanding the zeitgeist of the 60s/70s
