Love the large canisters and bowls. May I ask where you found them?
@Jeni_Gough2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The jars are Anchor Hocking and they came from my local Kroger store (Fry's Marketplace) and I can't remember the bowl brand. But the bowls are large and have a rubber bottom so it doesn't slide around while mixing. 😊

I left the navy in 77 and re enlisted In the army 1980 my mother was making them I was going in to the army ..my aunt now in her late 80’s gave my mother this restaurant Recipe in the 70’s saying in it was from Texas and she said “she was the lady this happened to her”husband was there on business for the penitentiary security systems my family is from Mammoth Cave Kentucky This has well been over 45years. out of 16 kids only two is alive today .. as well I heard the story on paul Harvey years back . Any way it Christmas and I thought about those cookies I’ve been widowed 10 years So I googled the 250$ cookie and a dozen stories piped up Looking what they had vs what I had I’m looking my moms books A typed Recipe 2 cups butter 4 cups flour 2 tsp. soda 2 cups sugar 5 cups blended oatmeal** 24 oz. chocolate chips 2 cups brown sugar 1 tsp. salt 1 8 oz. Hershey Bar (grated) 4 eggs 2 tsp. baking powder 3 cups chopped nuts (your choice) 2 tsp. vanilla ( mom ..some times used black walnuts , hickory nuts , and a couple shots of molasses from the farm ...) Any way it’s Good stuff I miss all , my passed family But memories brings a smile Happy holidays the 250$ cookie Douglas

Ive had this recipe since 1987! Maybe the story is true? Idk but every cookie maker was thrilled to have it. I have substituted my Baking Powder with Cream of Tarter because it makes a more Chewy Cookie.

It looks awesome. The amount of baking soda and baking powder you put 4 tsp instead of 2 tsp per recipe. Which is the correct amount?
@Jeni_Gough4 жыл бұрын
I said 4, it was two. I explained that on the video and put the correct amount across the screen right then. I also put the recipe in the description box below. Sorry for the confusion 🙂

Use the handle of your spoon. Less muscle required and less clumping on the spoon.

I put on disposable gloves and got in there, rolling the dough in cling wrap that made five huge rolls! I cut the 1st roll while it was still soft and froze the other four rolls to cut and bake as needed! I needed all four rolls within 2 weeks!😳

How about food processor grating, just pulsing
@Jeni_Gough4 жыл бұрын
It’s nit a lot of grated chocolate, so doing it with a hand grater is no big deal. 😊

You need a huge bowl!! 😂😂😂

I d just divide it in half. Looks like a pretty standard recipe except the ground oatmeal. Then it would fit in mixer.

The 80"s and emails? I believe the story. But not sure about the retaliation being out in emails at that time...🤔 I believe NM decided to make the recipe public after parts of this story happen...who else has recipes that make 112 cookies, again🤔....needless to say, the cookies are unforgettably delicious!!😋
@Jeni_Gough4 жыл бұрын
In the 90's the emails with the recipe and the story about the cookies in the 80's, were being sent back and forth. Back when there just dial up! It was the first email I actually printed out!
@ps07262 жыл бұрын
Oops, you said 4 tsp baking soda, 4 tsp baking powder and 2 tsp salt, which is it? The recipe shows 2for baking powder and 2 tsp baking soda and 1 salt.
