Great video I have been wanting to see someone use this for real.

Honestly it's not as intuitive but I get better results with their software than I do with lightburn on some things. It's Auto image analysis is pretty good and as long as you convert everything to grayscale before you import it should work fantastic. I'm using gimp as an image software at the moment. I have the others but I haven't renewed. Now that I understand how to use the freeware or open source programming a little better everything runs smoothly. I'm planning on upgrading soon because my neje master2 just died... I ran it pretty hard for 2 years! I did things with that machine you're not supposed to do! The only thing I have to say is I follow the advice of styropyro when it comes to optics. Like a good scope your lens should be comfortable to at least half the price of a small laser. I paid $85 for my glasses but I know my eyes are safe. I've even used them for other projects like Ruby manufacturing.

It is safer to use a cricut for vinyl cutting. As others have stated, PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) Vinyl emits chlorine gas when laser cut..!! Short term exposure to chlorine gas causes mild to severe eye and nose irritation, breathing/respiratory problems. Long-term exposure can be deadly. You may be able to find a PVC Free "Laser Safe" vinyl but stay on the safe side just use a cricut for your stickers :)

Please don't miss inform , is not a 30w or 40 w laser, is a 7.5w out put power diode laser!! That's it.

WoW this is awesome brother. How do you get rc plans to get the laser to cut the wood ?
@dealspeed6756 Жыл бұрын
This is awesome. Good airplane kits are hard to find these days. With this you could build whatever you wanted. Question is how hard is it? Are there files out there?

How did you import the r/c airplane files? Do you plan on another video showing how to do r/c airplane build from the begining. thank you.
@AverageDriver180 Жыл бұрын
what i wanna know is that a laser cuts the wood at a 90degree angle and if we go for a tapered wing the slot from where the longerons or other support is going has to be cut at an angle so how does the laser cut that because when im making a balsa plane on fusion i always come across this issue as the laser wold read sketch file so i have to project the 3d piece but the things is the rib structure ina tapered wing has different projections on each side so i always get confused on which side to project its not that much of an issue tbh as i just sand the slots afterwards but id glad if someone can give a more effective method

I see you cut vinyl graphics with the laser. Were the edges pretty smooth? What about cutting covering? Would it cut that transparent yellow film? Thank you

Hey great video. I'm thinking of getting a laser cutter mostly to design and print boats. What software do you use for your designs?
@danytalloen2 жыл бұрын
I'm considering buying a machine like that too, but I'm wondering if there is an easy (automated) way to get the paper plans that I have into files for the cutter. I have several plans with parts drawings for boats, so how do I get them in the machine ?
@inniyewtesfaw2003 Жыл бұрын
I would say scan them as an image file, import into inkscape or similar vector graphics software, and trace over the lines as best you can
@DJWhitelow Жыл бұрын
Tracing with the pen tool as per the comment below is the most accurate way but adobe illustrator has a auto trace tool that can be set to outline mode. This should work ok if the source image is clear enough.

You should try flight test form board it is waterproof and it’s not white it is brown and it is designed for RC airplanes and that’s what they make their planes out of on their KZbin channel flighttest

Joyvel. How do you import the ribs to an balsa sheet 10cmx100cm?Can you make one tutorial how to import dxf files, with the plans for a balsa glider and how to set all the software for cutting with laser machine?! In all internet it is not such a video!!! Cheers

Hey. I see u glued the servo into ur wing.why? What happens if servo goes bad?.u gonna have destroy the wing to get servo out, I guess.
@bmpowellicio2 жыл бұрын
Its usually not too difficult to break the glue joint. But if you prefer, you can wrap the servo in masking tape before gluing it, the masking tape can be released more easily. I generally use double-sided tape, but glue is fine.

@@Joyplanes Polyvinyl chloride is the full name. There is chlorine in it, and it will corrode other metal things nearby. Search for Chlorine - SAFETY DATA SHEET.

Can you please share your LightBurn settings for 5mm balsa?
@Joyplanes2 жыл бұрын
I forgot them, but there are many ways to do it, many passes high power, high speed, or lower speed, lower power and just 1 or two passes etc. It also depends on the density of the wood, some balsa wood are more dense than others.

"Can go up to about 40W.." That's not optical power, which is the actual laser power not the whole laser module power. Currently using a 20W optical diode and it can do 4mm MDF, 1 pass, 490mm/min + air assist, 6mm black acrylic 1 pass @ 100mm/min. I see LT now have a 40W optical. Common misdavertising tactic is to quote the whole module power, whereas most are fitted with a similar diode with an actual optical power of between 5 and 6.5W A true 40W optical laser diode will run you close to $1500 just for the module...as of this post date

Just buy an aquarium air pump, they're cheap. No need for a compressor for the air assist.

Not being able to cut white foam board makes it a non-starter for me. Also, hard to find ones that are big enough to cut a whole sheet (20" x 30") that aren't bulky, expensive commercial units.
@Imersiva2 жыл бұрын
Cover or paint the foam with black and it will cut it perfectly.
@jasonhurdlow66072 жыл бұрын
@@Imersiva painting isn't really a good or clean option, and if you have to put a sacrificial black piece of poster board or something on it, you're increasing your material costs by quite a bit. Though, if the latter works, I guess it is an option. I'd just rather not have to bother with all that. Going to an expensive CO2 laser is a big jump in price though. Have to have a significant ability to turn profit using it to justify that cost.
