good stuff! I have the Saturn version, never knew it came out for the PS1 first.

Thanks! Yup, a launch title at that too. Seems like you have quite an impressive collection of Japanese import games. How is the Saturn version?
@AvalancheReviews11 жыл бұрын
A little simple, but I had no idea you good do all those special moves (I really need to learn some simple Kanji). My import saturn collection is kind of small, but when I saw this game's cover art at some shop in Diaba, I had to grab it. It was actually only 600 Yen.
@importgamingftw11 жыл бұрын
Wow, strange timing for your comment. Just a minute ago I finished watching the Gaming Christmas Carol vid that SuperDerek put out a while ago. Six hundred yen for that game is a great deal. Can't beat retro game prices in Japan, though I have been recently finding a lot of great cheap games through Amazon, including a few of the El Dorado games for DC and the Suikogaiden games (again). My Japanese is far from perfect, but if you ever have any questions, feel free to send me a PM or something and maybe I could help.

Judging from what I have seen on youtube, it seems the Saturn version has a much clearer sound.

Yeah, I wish I would have researched it more. Music is different, and I think it's redbook audio, if I remember correctly.

It's a fun game if you love beat 'em ups, but if not, I can see it being a little boring. And ah, Mad Stalker! I've been searching for that game for several years now! Never played it, but I totally want to! That and Panzer Bandit.
@largolagrande8 жыл бұрын
Never thought these games are so hard to combe by in Japan. Even if I rarely see any of these games on eBay. I saw Mad Stalker only 1 time on ebay in round a bout 5 years. Mad Stalker is on the Japanese PSN. I think. It's a very fun beat em up with good fighting mechanics compared to other games.
@importgamingftw8 жыл бұрын
Do you know much about Mad Stalker on other platforms? I believe I've seen it for the Sharp X68000 or a similar PC, and was wondering how it/they compares to the PS version.

Cool review man! Anyone know the difference between the ps1 and saturn versions? I'm trying to figure out which one to buy.
@importgamingftw6 жыл бұрын
Thanks--as far as I know, the differences are mostly found in the music--PS1 version is done with the hardware, the Saturn version is Redbook and different. Some small graphical additions are found in the Saturn version, such as extra "pillars" in the foreground in the whale belly stage, and I think actual gameplay-wise, the Saturn has a few bouts of slowdown. Not 100% sure, but I've been hunting for a decently priced Saturn version for YEARS just to know firsthand...I love this game.
@unrealdevon10 жыл бұрын
Great video! Btw where does the slowdown occur on the saturn port? And also what graphics were changed?
@importgamingftw10 жыл бұрын
unrealdevon Thank you! I don't know where the slowdown occurs exactly, but I assume it's when too many enemies are on screen, and IIRC the slowdown doesn't happen all too often. But there was zero slowdown in all four of my playthroughs on the PS1. As for graphics, I know that in the whale stage, some objects were added to the foreground on the Saturn version, but other than that, I don't know. I've been thinking of buying the Saturn port and revisiting this game in a future video. ;)
@unrealdevon10 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply :)
@RetroCore5 жыл бұрын
The Saturn version slows down quite a bit when using specials and when graphical effects are used such as the swinging spike balls as seen in this video. Dispte this I prefear the Saturn version due to the better soundtrack and nicer effects on the whale stage. Basically, the Saturn version is an unoptimised port which is why it slows down. The system is easily more than capable of handling this game.
