I love the fact that the person doing your color analysis told you to wear what you like. I think it's soooo important. There's usually so much focus on which colors people "should" wear and I see many people commenting they're so sad they "can't" wear their favorite color. We don't wanna feel miserable wearing clothes in colors that don't make us feel good, even if those colors suit our attributes well.

Totally agree! I think I am lucky that I love the colors in my palette, but if my favorite color wasn't in my palette I would still wear it and encourage others to do the same!

The warm reds and reddish pinks make sense because I thought that the mini mock neck tank you made with the Sewrella Strawberry Fields color looked so good on you. Obsessed with the greens and blues in your palate. I love jewel tones even though I don’t think they look the best on me. I’ve been wanting to get a color analysis done to see if I’m wearing colors that look good on me. Super cool video!

So cool! Or so warm 😂 I had my colors done, and then I made myiuki bead bracelets in my colors to wear when I shop for clothes and for yarn. And since they're my colors, I wear the bracelets stacked all the time. I know that you've been looking for a color consultant for a while...I'm glad that you had a great experience!

It’s really interesting to see different methods to colour analysis! I did one of the traditional season ones, and loved it. But I did it online, and it would be really cool to do some kind of in person analysis from someone who doesn’t stick to the seasonal method - so I could discover even more colours that would look good on me. Can’t wait to see how this affects your yarn choices in the future 😍

I like this video so much that I rewatched some segments. Thank you for sharing it with us. Ginger must be very talented and have an excellent eye for colour to be able to customize colour selection to each client. I think you have received a lovely colour palette to work with your natural colouring. I was colour analyzed this summer, and it was in person consultation. My consultant did not used „seasonal colour analysis” but she used an „ Absolute Colour System”. I am very happy with the results, and it helped me tremendously with picking the right colours in my projects. My palette is named „sophisticated”. Basically it is close to yours just lighter while keeping the colours smoky or a bit dusty. Since many of us who have some interest in the personal colour palette are familiar with the seasonal system, I would be in the „Dark Winter” category, but my personal palette does not have pastels and only darker greys, and overall darker neutrals, soft white and pearl grey. I was surprised as well to have some smoky warmer reds and greens, and a chestnut colour, in my palette and I love them. Although I have a cool undertone with a bit warm overtone, many greys, cool blues and cool purples don’t look good on me. I am sure you will enjoy incorporating your colours into your future projects.

Interesting to hear about another approach to color analysis! Seasons are limiting in a way, but I think the benefit is that the color fan included colors I never would have thought of. I have yellows in my Dark Winter-fan (a color that I have written off in the past) and now I feel safer somehow to try it out! Same with purples, I’ve never liked how they look, but I’m more open to get purple now that I can find a shade that should look good 😄

I love these colors for you, and no, I’m not at all surprised that pastels and grey are not good for you🎉. I think this was such a lovely thing to do for yourself. I may follow up on your recommendation to go and see Ginger Burr, as Boston is not too far away for me.

That was fun! Ginger has certainly captured your colours - from where I sit. The knits that you put up of you wearing with either a cross or tick, I totally agree with. Well done Amy - what a powerful activity for choosing your yarn and clothes.....will look in to doing the same for my yarn dyeing now 🥰

I've had color analysis with Ginger and it was 🎉. I really appreciate your detailed video because it walks step by step through everything. It's also fantastic to see your results - because I have a "no pastel" palette too, but seeing your face by your colors "that's so you!" and no one else.

wow so cool to see the full palette! Do you think it was totally worth the $300+ even though you already had a good idea of your best colours? I'm contemplating doing a colour analysis as well
@neknits
@neknits 5 күн бұрын
The price tag is high but I think it was worth it for me! Ginger gave me a lot of insights I didn't expect in addition to confirming my intuition, both of which I appreciated. It's nice to know I don't need to do this again in my lifetime (unless i go through a major hair color change, and still want a palette). I think going in person and chatting with her for 90 minutes while we did the palette made it seem more worth it than if it was virtual IMO. But if you are really into the idea of color analysis I think it can be a fun thing to save up for and look forward to!

Loved this! I am hoping to do an in person colour analysis for fun one day. With my online research and experimenting of the 12 seasons colour palettes I have found out that you can borrow from your neighbours depending on your true features. For example I seem to always be a deep/dark autumn but can wear some colours from the dark winter palette very well and better than some of the true autumn colours that are too warm for me. And pastels are my worst colours lol.

Hello Amy! 👋🏾This was such an interesting video. I must admit that at first I was very skeptical of the process. But wow...she really matched you well. Such an interesting discovery on your self declared season palette. The jewel tones, blues and forest green that you like got confirmed suiting you so well Great news on the reds (I can sense poppy KFO vibes) While I'm a little surprised about the grays. Really gray has such a wide spectrum of shades that it seems odd to me that none works but whatever🤷🏻‍♀️ It must feel pretty satisfying to know that you had those colors which you look the best in already in your stash 🎉

I definitely sense a poppy red sweater in my future! And I totally forgot to say in the video that charcoal grays also work for me as they're closer to black, which is in my palette. But the paler side of the gray spectrum is not for me!

This is definitely something I’ve been thinking about lately as I’ve gotten more interested in knitting sweaters and thinking about spinning sweater quantities to then knit up. I’m not very good at knowing what looks good on me but I have tended towards a very similar colour palette! With the gem tones and then grey and black but also I made a coral knit top and it looked amazing! I need to ask a more experienced designer/fashion friend their opinion instead of relying on what I’ve always chosen 😅

This is interesting especially because I think I have a similar skin tone as yours - neutral leaning towards warm, medium tone. I knit lots of purple-violet which didn’t surprise me as it’s one of my fav colour, but I did surprise myself by knitting lots of green stuff and also showing interest in blue yarn, as they have been probably my least fav colours throughout my life. It’s like I knew on some level that those colours would flatter me pretty well even though I might not like them personally! I do knit light pink and yellow stuff simply because I find joy from working with those colours, but I’m aware that those aren’t the most flattering on me haha. When I really want to knit something in grey or beige which I usually avoid because I’ve known literally my whole life that they sort of ‘kill’ my complexion, I try to choose shades that are on the light side like light pearl grey or light beige/cream (so basically close to off-white) to minimise the complexion-kill effect 😂

Interesting! I have always found that I do not really fit in one of the seasonal boxes (my skintone is cold, my hair is warm but light, muted colors and pastels, that usually look good on blondes are too light for me), so this approach sounds appealing!

Ooh this colour analysis style is so interesting! I had a group of friends go for one that used the seasonal palette and they all came out with the same season 🤨 so I was a bit sceptical, I wonder if it's because the analyser could see their reaction to different colours and that could have caused to bias? Very intrigued, maybe I'll have to book in. I think, like you, I have a pretty clear sense of what colours I enjoy wearing but still curious what my result would be

I've never had my colours done professionally but based on playing around with it myself, my palette is very similar to yours. Dark, saturated colours (mostly cool but some warmer ones too) look the best on me and pastels, beiges and pale grays wash me out. I love my best colours, but as a knitter who absolutely loves cables it is a little heartbreaking that it is so hard to find a light shade that looks good on me :')
@neknits
@neknits 5 күн бұрын
Such a good point about cables! I hope you can still find some light colors for cables you love wearing, despite them being "not in" your palette. I'll definitely be knitting some cables in the future with non-palette colors!

When I had mine done years ago they put a white head scarf on us to block our hair color. That was probably because it changed a lot from summer sun fade and the dyeing it back to the root color later.
