OK, I've finally managed to do it - I've listened to this audio and got my thoughts together. I apologize profusely to the writer (Thomas) for taking over a year to comment on an audio when the entire premise of this particular roleplay was something I suggested to him, but this past year for me has been a nightmare for reasons I won't get into. To make up for that, I've listened to this audio many, MANY times, taking notes on everything I picked up on - I hope my thorough analysis will at least partially make up for how long Thomas had to wait. Overall, I'm a SERIOUSLY impressed by the writing here! After listening to it so many times, I've come to realize that this script is actually quite the realistic depiction of _dealing with trauma,_ both in terms of the person who has been traumatized and the one trying to help them. I've dealt with traumas big and small (pun unintended) throughout my life, so I have plenty of experience in that regard, and I genuinely saw quite a lot of myself in this particular mouse listener, and even bits and pieces of those who tried to help me in the neko speaker. I'm going to go over many of the details I found, organized (mostly) by timestamp - I'm certain that not everything here was intentional, but I'll note everything that stood out nonetheless: Let's start with something relatively simple. As I listened to this audio, I couldn't help but wonder - what could the mouse listener be *thinking* during their first encounter? For example, at [0:08] the neko talks about the food she's planning to prepare, but does the listener even know what the words "toasted pita" even _means?_ After all, they're much tinier than other people in this world, so they could only dream of food that complex, and probably have had to live off of people's crumbs their whole life. To a mouse, food is just food - there's no use differentiating. Next is [0:21], when the neko starts audibly wondering out loud where the cheese went, I'm certain that the listener feels absolutely TERRIFIED at that moment. If I were in their shoes, I would be panicking and assume that she already knows where I am, and is simply speaking aloud to get a reaction out of me - it feels so trope-like to NOT assume otherwise, honestly. Skipping forward a little bit, we have "the funny line" at [1:42]. I originally chose this username on a whim, but over time it's been the joke that keeps on giving, as that phrase shows up constantly in size-related scripts. I've been thinking about possibly rebranding to a different name at some point in the future, but every time I hear this phrase it makes me question if I should... (My full thoughts are too long to post as a single comment, check the replies for the rest!)

Now that the two characters have actually met, we can begin discussing why I think this is a fairly good depiction of trauma. Let's talk about the neko here, and how I thoroughly enjoyed the way she's been written - I LOVE how at various points throughout the audio, the neko _genuinely fumbles_ in her attempts to comfort the listener and make them trust her. Unlike many ASMR scripts out there, this neko isn't like some robot who is programmed to say the most comforting or reassuring words no matter the situation. Rather, she's just an ordinary person trying to navigate a very unfamiliar situation, fully aware of how delicate the subject is. She's written in a way that balances her flaws with her kindhearted intentions, making her a more believable character! The first example of her slipping up is when she says "telling me to go away isn't a valid option" at [2:16], in a rather confrontational tone. Since she isn't immediately attached to this total stranger hiding in her own home, the neko isn't afraid to express just a little bit of _frustration_ with the refusal to cooperate. In addition, due to her not knowing what's going on at this point and how quickly this is happening, she's also rather stressed. Her saying that line is not comforting in the slightest, but let's be honest here - if many of us were in her shoes instead, we'd say the same thing. On a related note, another time she expresses just a little frustration is at [5:07], and I'll admit that I sympathized with the mouse here. _Irrational fears_ are a common symptom of trauma, and while they don't have to be conquered right away, these seemingly illogical fears can be rather frustrating to deal with for anyone who knows someone with severe anxiety and depression. I know that I've burdened people in the past, and I do feel guilty about it, but conflicts such as this can be inevitable depending on how severe these irrational anxieties are. And in regards to the irrational fears of the listener here - they very much resemble how one's trauma can impact their reactions to things that are seemingly unrelated! Even if this neko isn't a LITERAL cat, she bares a close enough resemblance to the creature that killed the listener's family that (combined with her immense size) the neko's presence triggers a fight-or-flight response from the listener. Honestly, in a world filled with sentient beings of various sizes, I'm willing to bet that MANY of the tinier individuals would suffer from the trauma (perhaps even survivor's guilt) of watching their friends of family die in accidents, or from near-death experiences in their encounters with "giants." At least, that would probably be the case in the world shown here. Anyway, I'm going to step back for just a second and talk about the other times the neko "messes up" in trying to help the listener - though this time I'm going to focus on moments that indicate her _inexperience_ with creatures much smaller than her, rather than the impatience of dealing with an uncooperative stranger. Such moments include [3:28] (not realizing until later that being a neko might be what makes the listener afraid of her), [6:26] (expressing desire to grab the listener, not realizing that it might be a terrifying thing to say), [9:52] (forgetting to provide water), and [12:38] (amazement at the listener's lack of weight). All of these indicate that she lives in a world where one's species means almost nothing, except in extreme edge cases like the listener's.
@so_sma116 ай бұрын
OK, now that I've gone over how well-written the listener's trauma is, and how this neko is relatively underqualified to deal with the issue (which is a GOOD thing from a writing perspective), that brings up the question - how do the listener and the neko _deal with the trauma_ before it becomes an even bigger problem? I've noticed several ways this trauma is addressed. The first step towards overcoming fears is done by the neko, and that step is _letting the listener have his personal space_ - even if she doesn't understand _why_ the listener is afraid of her, she knows that her presence makes them uncomfortable, so instead of pushing the issue further, she instead puts cheese inside their hole/home at [2:55]. Putting the cheese INSIDE the hole communicates that she does NOT expect the listener to come out, and that she instead wants the listener to approach them _at their own pace,_ (a privilege I need quite often). Of course, letting someone with trauma make the first move always poses the risk of them never making that move at all, and instead reaching a stagnant state where they flee from everything remotely resembling what they're afraid of. Thankfully, though, that's not what happens here, and the reason is simple: The listener is living in the same house as the neko. Because of that, they only has two choices: Move somewhere else, or get on good terms with their housemate. Both characters know these are the only valid options, and the listener chooses the latter. The neko also realizes the next step in building their relationship at [3:51], when she says "they need to get used to me." Sometimes, the only way to overcome something that makes you nervous is to expose yourself to the source, but in a _safe, controlled environment,_ at your own level of comfort. The ides of "exposure therapy" is something that I find very interesting, even when we're not talking about extreme size differences; it's even a premise that was explored in another ASMR roleplay I've suggested to another ASMRtist in the past! However, it takes a very long time for the listener to work up the courage to approach the neko once and for all - even if this audio wasn't super long or anything, I really like that Thomas went out of the way to indicate a _time skip_ - the quip at [8:19] and her saying that she never really got a good look at the listener at [11:10] implies that she's been keeping a respectful distance for a long time. I think I recall mentioning in the original pitch for this script that there should be a sort of "slow burn" element, since this stuff takes a long time IRL, so I'm glad to see it's included! And once the two characters finally meet again (after presumably weeks, maybe months), the neko never tries to _force_ anything on the listener, and instead tries to make sure they're comfortable and in control of the situation. She also praises the listener for overcoming their fears (at [12:10], and earlier in the audio at [5:42]). Even if what the listener is _actually_ doing might seem insignificant or easy from the neko's perspective, she's trying to see it from _their_ perspective instead, and provide positive reinforcement to bond with the tiny mouse.
@so_sma116 ай бұрын
OK, one final section, and then I'm done. I want to talk about how the _extreme size difference_ between the characters comes into play, especially during the final few minutes. First of all, I absolutely ADORE the inclusion of the neko's comment about "being equals" at [11:37]. That kind of dynamic is extremely important to me - even if I love the sensation of feeling _physically tiny,_ I don't want to be treated as though I were a pet, slave, or otherwise inferior to my "giantess" (though I know _many_ people are into that kind of thing). Personally, being treated as an equal, partner, friend, etc. by someone many times my own size makes that relationship feel far more _special,_ and help me feel valued as a person (I've always struggled with self-worth my entire life). The second thing that got the gears in my head turning is the neko's joke about the size of her eyes at [12:50]. Personally, as much as I love feeling small, I would probably be absolutely horrified if I had to stare into the eyes of gigantic creature, especially when she's staring back at me. I've always struggled with eye contact, and it would like she's peering into my very soul. So, at least for me, I'd probably prefer to be held somewhere else when talking to my "giantess" - such as her ear or mouth. Sure, being held in front of a gigantic, moving mouth is scary in its own right, but at the very least it's something I can still perceive as "her" during the conversation (so it still feels up-close and personal), and that I can stare during our chats at without her staring back. Finally, there's one final detail that I think will be very fitting to close out with: The neko's _promise_ at [13:48]. For both physically tiny, sapient creatures and those who are physically and emotionally vulnerable in other ways, promises are EXTREMELY important for helping them feel _safe_ in the care of someone who could potentially hurt them. However, our neko here would have to be very careful to KEEP her promise to the best of her ability, as broken promises can lead to severe trust issues for a long time, considering the listener's size and history. Phew... finally it's done... I guess my only critique here is the lack of sound effects/audio editing/etc, which I always think is important for making a size difference/giantess ASMR more immersive; however, that kind of responsibility lies with Fake, and my main objective here was the focus on the actual script writing. I would maybe write a grand conclusion or something, but this wall of text is so large that I had to post it as multiple comments, so no use in making it bigger.
