I backed it and have already received it. My colleagues loved it, and my kids are fond of it. We're mainly playing coop. There's a lot of little decisions in here to make, height of the denchus, where to put them... It's a clever dexterity game. There's tension as we pass some levels, I was almost sweating trying to put another denchu ! As for the cats, I guess they would be to heavy in wood. And the price is very reasonnable, around 30-35 euros.

Thank you for your comment. You seem to have grasped the full appeal of Nekojima and all its subtleties; it's a clever dexterity game with the concept of progressive difficulty. Indeed, for the cats, we opted for a special cardboard, much denser and sturdier than the regular cardboard; wood, on the other hand, would have made the cats too heavy (tested and not approved). Thanks again for your contribution 😊

It's cool that they added the é on the title as it better represent the Japanese pronouncitation. For anyone curious, the title is pronounced as "Neh-koh jima".

It was a big thing during the KS they seemed to be hiding the fact that the cat are punch board. Everyone thought it was wood at the start because of how everything was advertised. Still excited to get my copy in, looks like a fun game.

I looked at the campaign page. They list FSC for all the wooden components and it’s left out for the cats. But from the pictures I would have assumed wooden or plastic. The KS pictures look like they have thicker cats. They probably tested it and it didn’t work out or maybe they couldn’t find a cost effective solution. 🤷🏻♀️

The production values are pretty high otherwise, so I would assume its not a cost-cutting measure, but probably more to do with weight or grip @@Poiuytrew.Q

If the cats were made of wood the game would not work. The current blackboard is already pretty heavy

Between good players, I really like the optional rule to limit to 2 poles per district, it goes so high!

Between this and MLEM, I think me and DT have very differing views on cat-themed games 😅

Initially, it looked interesting. By the third turn in, it just seemed unnecessarily restrictive, like they were intentionally making it feel like a chore.

I backed it. The theme was charming enough. I hope my kids like it.

Is there any house rules that would bump this up for you guys? I backed it ans it looked really cool for a quick party game.

FYI, it should be pronounced nekojima, not neekojima (nikojima). Neko is Japanese for cat.

I'm seeing different colors than Mike. Might just be me.

I’ve noticed in other Dice Tower, videos, sometimes the color doesn’t come through correctly on the camera. I’m not sure what’s causing it. I’ve even looked up pictures of components online before to check that. It wasn’t my TV settings.

Interestingly in Japanese blue and green are considered the same color (essentially)
