Nekusar, the Mindrazer MTG deck tech EDH

My personal Nekusar wheel Commander deck. I have built this deck to be close to as powerful as possible, please leave suggestions in the comments!

It’s worth mentioning throwing Sheoldred the apocalypse in to really add to the pain and heal yourself off of draws is an option. But it will also mean nobody will play against you ever again so keep that in mind

Sheoldred is exactally what this deck wants, I might swap out Phyrexian Tyranny. I have have a lot of fun to play against decks, this is not one of them ;) Thanks for the suggestion!

Nekusar runs great with Doomsday. Between all the cantrips, wheels, and ways to crack the pile, it's very easy to slot in Doomsday and a Jace, Wielder of Mysteries or a Laboratory Maniac. My usual pile is Predict, Lab Maniac, Necromancy, Wheel of Fortune (or any wheel), Circular Logic (or a ritual if you need it), and whatever final card you want. You can change the pile based on your needs and is extremely versatile.

Great vid. Short, sweet, clear. Witch’s Cottage could be a good add to the land base to recover some life if you get too low. Could be a really nice burst off a wheel

I made an unusual Nekusaur deck. Esika, God of the Tree is my commander, but I play the other side The Prismatic Bridge. See its an Enchantment that can be used as a Commander because the other side is still a Legendary Creature. Also, The Prismatic Bridge has all five colors. This makes it able to use green and white, something Nekusaur decks don't normally have access to. This allows me the ability to add cards like Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Land Tax, Sphere of Safety, Nyxbloom Ancient, Burgeoning & Exploration, and Smothering Tithe. All go great with Nekusaur but aren't normally allowed in his commander colors. The Prismatic Bridge also has another major positive as well. See it cheats creatures in your library onto the field. So, if you have 5 or less creatures you can get to Nekusaur quickly and without paying his mana cost to put him on the field. Even if he's destroyed, a wheel that shuffles your graveyard into you library puts him back into a place he can be cheated back onto the field again.

I personally would change curiosity for Helm of the Ghastlord. It does the same thing as Curiosity, but it works off every instance of damage. So if you wheel by the time the effect resolves you will have around 28 cards in hand and your opponents will have none.

@@Camp_MTG if not answered quickly it can spiral to the point your opponents are losing more then gaining and as I said if you wheel it pretty much guarantees your opponents will have no cards for the rest of the game. It’s definitely something I would recommend over curiosity, not saying curiosity is bad, but helm does what it does, but better.

Price of knowledge it’s cmc is kinda high but if you get it out there it’s really good it gives each players no maximum hand size and opponents take damage at the end of turn for however many cards they have in hand.

I'm doing a whole Deck with the strategy using fortell and suspend to get cads out of my hand before I wheel

How do you feel about ramp like seething song and dark ritual? I’m considering them to help me chain in general since they should help me draw into other permenant resources. I see you already have Jeska’s will

Thats an interesting question, I've played a lot of versions of this deck but never tried rituals aside from Jeska's Will which is crazy good because of the card advantage. Cutting a couple 2 mana rocks for rituals might be good. Can't really afford to cut Nekusar redundancy pieces or wheels or protection cards. If you try it let me know know what you think!

Will do!! They’re on the list to buy anyway. Have you also considered discard techs for this? It looks like you go straight card draw, but I considered discard tech in order to Deal more damage without Nek/remove the card advantage I’m giving my opponents when I wheel

@@jeremykline6687 I tried a version that ran discard tech, and I definately wouldn't say it was bad, it might even be better if the deck was tuned to that, but some of the best wheels shuffle instead of discard, so to optimize it I had to choose between cutting those or cutting some good wheels. Library of Leng and Bag of Holding have the same problem to be honest, if I ever find a better low mana fit I'll cut them. I bet Waste Not would be worth it in any build but I've never tried it!

Oh wow… that’s an incredible important distinction! Great point. To that same end, I wonder if there are any specific “when your opponent shuffles” synergies! Hopefully in artifact or enchantment so they stick but aren’t worth it to remove, plus with tutors floating around they could always be useful?

Also, what do you think of Commit to Memory (Commit // Memory)? I just realized as I was typing this that aftermath works regardless as long as it’s in the graveyard. It seems kind of very very good lol. Just toss it in a wheel if you haven’t already discarded your counters, and play it later unexpectedly

Days Undoing is actually in the deck, I just forgot to talk about it! Its probably the worst wheel in the deck because it stops the chain, but at 3 mana its still very solid

Commit // Memory was in the deck for a long time, but didn't synergize with all the shuffle wheels I had, so I decided to take it out. In a more discard wheel style deck it would be very good!

I think Days Undoing might be a nonbo, unless i am reading the card wrong. The act of ending the turn effectively nullifies the Nekusar triggers as they are never put on the stack to begin with. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

At 4:45 you say that curiosity works off of wheel of fortune, curiosity will only draw 1 card ever, doesn’t matter how much damage it does it’s always 1 card. just thought I would point it out
