1) Adeline triggers when any creature attacks, so Shane missed a lot of triggers. 2) Mending of Dominaria shuffles the graveyard into the library afterwards, so he couldn't get back all those cards with seasons past like he did.

This is what I also thought. He could’ve attacked with hanweir militia and get 3 humans at first. Then there was a second time where he could’ve had more triggers. Shane could’ve won.

@@ramensobatv Adeline only triggers once, but yeah, he missed chances where Adeline would trigger. Why she triggers once is because she says when you attack, not when a creature you control attacks. Meaning she doesn't care about how many creatures attack, only that you attack.

Can't stress enough how much Adeline players need to pay attention to her ability. She triggers when any of your creatures attack, not just her. A lot of value lost on that one. Could have potentially changed the outcome of this game.

Two big missed details altered the outcome of that game. Adeline triggers whenever you attack, not Adeline herself. Seemed like he had some kind of plan with The Mending of Dominaria. Maybe not executely perfectly but that's the nature of the format. I don't have a problem with MLD as a meta-response to the ubiquitous ramp decks. In fact, ramp decks should really have the least problem with MLD--they just have to ramp less aggressively and hold on to a ramp card or two with which to recover. It could encourage players to play tighter and lower their curves. I know saying that is heretical in a format where people seem to only be ok if you're playing some form of combo/ramp, but I think everyone benefits from learning how to deal with different axes of interaction. If something really does become oppressive, then sure, deal with it socially, but try to solve things in-game first.
