With papaya salad, I am used to the sweet and tangy version at this Japanese restaurant I go to. I went to another restaurant, Thai place and the papaya salad said it was the Lao version. I got it and immediately tasted the difference. Salty and the crab pieces was in it and it was different then what I was used to and didn't like it. So I understand being used to it a certain way because I was shocked when I tried a different style and it tasted nothing like the papaya salad that I loved. It's interesting, but I agree with NEs version. Sweet and tangy is the best.
