The reason why this song took off like a rocket was just down to originality. No one sounded like Nelly and that St Louis sound was fresh. Damn how times have changed.

@@LeeKD93 true but he basically saying he was old enough to witness nelly when he was on the come up and I remember hearing this song a lot and everything but I was 4 years old in 2000 so I wasn’t old enough to really experience this classic like the people that grew up in the 90s because by 2000 they were teens or grown so they fully experienced this classic lol only thing I experienced was outside playing and BBQ parties with family and friends but teens and adults had a more better experience because of clubs and parties and just being old enough to know what Nelly meant in the song as well so it hit differently for them

As an Asian growing up in America, this dude was my hero. He inspired the whole jersey fashion in the early 00s with Fabolous. Made it cool to come from a normal place like St. Louis and show what real people look like from his town. Much respect to the legend Nelly!

There's a lot of videos with huge crowds, this is one of the best. The way it's shot make it look like an endless sea of people came out for Nelly, and it probably felt like that on set, too. You can tell the whole city had love for Nelly in this video, and they wanted to see a hometown hero win.

This came out my first year in the Army. While I have never been a huge fan of rap, I could tell right away that this one was awesome and different. I love that subtle bass line in it. Not the booming one but the one softer rhythmic one. The way the words flow and verses seamlessly lead right into the next is awesome. Hard to believe it's been 16 years.
