a 90/00's kid from toronto, nelly's voice was one of the pillars of my youth- i'd give anything to relive that time. will never forget one time in the early-00's, probably '02/'03, around age 12/13, playing glow-in-the-dark mini golf (on orfus road, iykyk), and turn off the light coming on- just that vibe/feeling of hearing that song in that environment next to one of my first major crushes at summer camp. and not to mention, like so many other boys my age, i also had an immense crush on nelly for a long time- those eyes, that face, paired with that immense talent. i love her music so much, and am all here for this incredible resurgence of hers.

She still sounds stellar. She looks even more incredible now than in her earlier youth. One of the guiltiest pleasures that became my favorite music-listening pastime has always been digitally digging through my folk pop and post-folk pop crates to pick out an album from her underrated catalog. Thank you for making my adolescence that much more meaningful and poignant, Nelly Furtado. You were excellent here and so was your band. I'm extremely proud of you.
@emilreads7 ай бұрын
You said it so right!! She's also the sountrack of my early teens (along with Dido) and Folklore is one of the most underrated records out there!
@khartoumlavage42537 ай бұрын
@@emilreads I had a long message and clicked off of this mini-screen like an idiot. I was basically going to concur with you about "Folkore" being one of the most underrated records of all time because I "NEVER" hear it receive acclaim, critically or even from her own aficionados (Besides myself.). "One Trick Pony", Childhood Dreams", "Picture Perfec"), "Try", and My Personal Favorite (I was pleasantly surprised and amazed by her as well as her band pulling off that epic rendition of it on here.) "Explode" opened up parts of my brain that no other music had at that time. It was unabashedly poignant, heart-wrenching, and simultaneously optimistic in significant segments of its cohesive entirety.

@CosmicSoul333 Agreed. Us Gen Xers and really Young Gen Xers REALLY grew up experiencing tge best music. Millennials like to claim/take credit for all the good music. I grew up in 80s and 90s and was "club age once the 2000s hit. All these artist they claim are all Gen Xers like Nelly. 12:37 back when it was mp3s i searched "get your freak on" to download because Missy Elliott was fire 🔥 with Timbo... and i saw so many versions... and if you're from Nigeria, you know data was precious, so its devastating downloading the wrong thing(or the clean edit 🤬) . I then took a chance on the original and the remix and ended up loving the "ge ge ge ge grrrr ge ge get!" 🥰🥰🥰
