His book- A Long Walk to Freedom, is the most beautifully written biography I have ever read. I'm fifteen, and I read a lot. Mandela's book is so moving that words cannot described my feeling to it. Read it. It's worth the money and the time.

I was there - I was 20 going on 21 and had been out in the streets selling raffle tickets on behalf of the ANC. I was at this concert and will remember the moment Nelson Mandela walked on stage ( and everyone in the stadium, including me, went mad) for the rest of my life. I still have the official souvenir programme bought inside the stadium at the time and the T-Shirt. Nelson Mandela's speech was electrifying.

So long ago now, nearly 26 years, but I remember the astonishing feeling when Nelson came out onto the balcony into view. This is only part of the cheering; it felt like an hour but I am sure it was only 20-30 mins - but the feeling... We were jumping up and down, screaming and crying, fists pumping the air, looking at each other with tears streaming down our faces and grins so wide I thought mine would split my head in two! For so long had we had hated the regime of apartheid and been sickened at the treatment of Mr Mandela and his countrymen. We had sung songs in his name and supported anti-apartheid campaigns since we were kids. I have been in some major worldwide events but this one was probably the most ecstatic and the most moving.
