Yeah he timed his engage on r with his w cooldown because w restore % missing w on next aa. So less mana = more mana back.

kassadin is auto win lvl 16.The only champion I think can deal with Kassadin lvl 16 is Ryze or Kayle.

Kassadin is not as good as other scaling champions in terms of late dmg. If kayle and kassadin are equally fed and same lvl late game kayle will tear through him much faster than he can to her. Kassadin’s main strength is his accesibility to snowball without dying himself in the mid game.
