I have Nemesis Lockdown and I have really enjoyed it, although I have only played solo mode. So I can only imagine how much fun it would be to play with other people. I also pledged to Nemesis Retaliation, the models look awesome (can't wait to paint them) and this review helped with my decision to move forward with this game.

the best review I've watched so far. I'm planning to get it as I don't have any nemesis but I love to play them. For what I watched, the noise system and securing the room, and the new damage dice improves the control you have in this game and for me is a plus. It feels like there not much support characters or mechanism this time as it lacks research or crafting. I would like to have more than 7 characters in my box if I back it, remains to see if they add more characters in a addon or let you get the old characters in a affordable addon (they said in a comment that they thought about doing that)

You should go for Lockdown. It’s streamlined Nemesis. Way better noise system. But still the open semi-coop individual decision making.

For someone who hasnt played - is it worth grabing one of the first 2 and this? Or is this is similar enough to not warrant both? Also does the semi-coop nature still shine here? Or does that shared public objective change the dynamic of the game to be really focused a lot more on coop in a way that the original semi coop nature is not as strong and more of an afterthought?

This is the one that finally got me into Nemesis as my group is more of a "shoot-em-up" type of group and not "try to survive and lose all the time". I'm excided to see what else is going to be shown during the Gamefound campaign. Ideally I would love models for the player characters and acrylic standees for the monsters but I understand that AR can't have too many variations as that complicates fulfillment.

Great video! Personally still think the OG Nemesis is the best. My only complaint was I wish the expansions added to the OG game more than it did. More objectives is a must as imo all Nemesis games are so easy to tell what objective someone has, as their just isn't time to do multiple things before dying. As soon as a friend goes to the cockpit...ok I know you have to go to X location with the ship, otherwise no one but the pilot wastes time going there. Retaliation seems to have the same issue, but be more linear, and not have the tense moving around the ship, as you mainly keep going to the right. I also couldn't tell based on this video, but it seems you start fully equipped, but then use it as you go so you almost get weaker? I'm sure you can find more supplies, etc but I prefer the other Nemesis feel of gearing up and getting stronger as you go, trying to survive.

Yes OG Nemesis is the more unique game. And a good description, you do actually get weaker as you play. Theme wise it makes sense.

I'm on the fence about this one. I'm not a fan of semi-coop and prefer full coop games. I also heard that solo coop falls flat in Nemesis games. Still I'm keeping an eye on it on Gamefound.

I am also undecided and the campaign is nearly over. I will say that my plays of Nemesis have been solo or co-op and I've enjoyed them greatly. It feels like playing the movie "Alien" and I've enjoyed my losses as much as my successes.

It can be a bit tedious but you should probably watch a full nemesis play session or at least large parts of it to really get a proper feel for the game. Personally, it's one of the biggest letdowns I've had in board gaming. I can only speak for the original Nemesis but it's way too luck-based, way too long for such a luck-based game and features perma-death. Nice minis and all that but you might get stomped after 20 minutes due to no fault of your own and then you can just sit there and twiddle your thumbs for two hours. Just terrible.

Can you tell us how the minis compare in size to the original Nemesis game minis? Im hearing these new minis will be very, very small.

They are much smaller. Mother is the only big miniature, but the rest of them are the size of larvas in the previous games.

I sadly must amend my previous enthusiastic statement: I'm out. Another add-on announced today; yet again another entry in their seemingly endless parade of more & more money, add-ons, and bloat. I'd hoped this would be a tight, focused game that snagged my table time, but alas not. Nobody needs to elect to buy add-ons, but it is a signal to me that (again) AR is hawking plastic for cash. 😔

@@browe The addons have always been completely optional, and I don't think I've heard anyone say any addon of the previous Nemesis games was worth playing over the core game except for maybe Aftermath. Your call what you do with your money, but IMO the standard edition without the minis seems like a good deal if the gameplay interests you.

I have lockdown I think overall its pretty much the same as the Original just different monsters really and some things a bit more cleaned up. This one seems cool. My local gaming store gets stuff like this in so one day I will pick it up, they still have Nemesis and lockdown stuff that comes in from time to time :-) space is the problem with these games and I dont have any for storage nevermind to play ha ONE DAY!!! ha

Hey Derrick! It depends on the game. Retaliation specifically we played 4 times before filming so we could test all the available objectives, characters etc. Agreed that time is always the issue, but we try our best to give each game a fair share of testing before talking about it.

Do you get paid to feature a game that is being crowdfunded? I am alsways a bit skeptical when kickstarter/gamefound campaigns are all of a sudden featured by every boardgame outlet right in their crowdfunding campaign time. It sort of leaves a weird aftertaste. So is there any financial corporation going on?

The ONLY financial backing for this channel comes from our Patreons, KZbin members, and our own pockets. Best alternative ? , Aliens:AGDIC I dont think so! Best alternative practically same game on big stereoids are Aliens: Bug Hunt! Same game but ... :) . It also a very good game you have hordes your squad with 3 characters and you lead them in missons.

Imho lockdown mechanicaly is much better than nemesis 1 and retaliation has much different feel than nemesis 1 and lockdown. Give lockdown a try, that's for sure

Here's my problems... 1. Storage size is huge. Cool miniatures, but its still mini porn. I love the miniatures, dislike the artwork. 2. Limited replayability, especially in solo. 3. Very limited in ability to mitigated poor RNG. You can just lose, and there's no way to avoid it. That stinks.

I'm sorry but that is rubbish. A review can be done at any stage. There is nothing in the definition of review that precludes it being on a kickstarter. In fact, as someone who backs kickstarters it is nice to be able to see a full review before backing the game.

But it's not a full review of final rules, build quality, etc. That means two categories of videos under the same name. But they could do like many other channels and call it a prototype review, crowdfunding review, a review preview, or throw a gamefound logo in the thumbnail and everyone can be happy.
