Shea, I wish you went a bit more into the concerns you have about this installment of the franchose, e.g. things you liked more in the previous Nemesis games or which Nemesis you would recommend which type of player. This felt more like a sales pitch to me.

Well, keep in mind that this was a sponsored video, but in all honesty I don't really have a lot of concerns. There's always the potential that things can go wrong between now and release, but what I saw made me feel pretty confident. As for comparing it to the other games, I like this one just as much or more than them in every way I can think of. That being said, I like the genre of survival action more than survival horror, which the other two games find themselves in. If that's you, then those might scratch that itch better.

I agree with you. It's hard to get unbiased takes because everyone that gets a copy will be paid. I like both OG and Lockdown so its hard to get an honest take on what is not working with this game.

Thanks for the run through and thoughts. Your original Nemesis tutorial helped me learn that game. To me, playing trained Marines is a big loss. The dread of being regular workers confronted by deadly aliens on an unreliable ship added a lot to the natural storytelling of the game. The new choice regarding the objectives sounds interesting. But I think I am much more an Alien than Aliens game style person. Less shooting, more dread and running.

There's nothing that I would call bad in this game, only things that some people won't get along with as well as others. Like I mentioned, as a dice rolling combat game, there's going to be a lot of luck involved. The same goes for the random map elements and intruder chip pulls. If you dislike luck in your games, this will not appeal to you. It also runs fairly long with a high player count, which some people won't like, but I personally don't mind. The only things that aren't up to my standard are due to this being a prototype that is still in development, and Awaken Realms has a good track record of fixing the minor issues in their prototypes before release, so I don't mention those because they're likely not going to be a problem.

Paid or not, he did give us a preview and his opinion about the beta version of the game. Whether it's bad or good is a subjective matter. Do your research and find what is bad for you before you back it. Giving disclosure on "paid" is NOT wrong. It is the right thing to do.

In terms of flavor, you are playing bad-asses who get in over their head. That's different than the more hopeless-from-the-get-go sensation of the first game. (I never wrote the word get-go before, and it kind of weirds me out to see it now.)

@@RTFM I see people ask you about potential negatives so if you are going to list the good things on a prototype then you should take a look a boardgameco. He says " things other people wont like" in his videos which feels much more straighforward and less of a only good things these are my thoughts sales pitch video.

The important question is, does this new iteration have the same type of semi-coorp and betrayal dynamic from the previous two games. It looks like a dungeon crawl, and there are just too many of them out there. Also, I was hoping they could find a way to shorten the game and get rid of player elimination...I guess it's not likely, but those are the biggest criticisms I have for the IP.

Yes, it does. Objective cards are still present here and they can be conflicting between players

Last time I played, the eliminated player control the aliens, which is quite fun.

Def still has semi coop. There are also alternative aliens that can be included (if you back the expansions) that are almost like vampires and can infect you and change your secret objective to ally with the alien, which is a really fun touch.

I'd like to see standees on a board how they look like and get some like in twisted fables. Those colors and pattern were better than from Nemesis. White background isnt that good.

if you literally think that shea is corrupt, then you can just watch the runthrough and decide for yourself if it looks like fun, drawing your own conclusions from an objective demonstration of gameplay, rather than trusting that a fellow human being is actually a good person. see faq.rahdo.com #7 for more details
