This is what I love about Nemophila, they play any genre in a song they want to and kill it! Thank you for reacting to this video.

This is maybe their "lightest" song ("Life" is apart, being a heavy ballad). They're definitly not afraid to mix genres as long as it is seriously rocking in the end. IMHO, Mayu is their instant sonic identity - she's such a special singer (and such a great frontwoman!). Dream team.

I love the heavier songs, but I also like the way they mix it up and keep it interesting. Nemophila are on the rise !! 🤘😁🤘

My favorite song of theirs is Fighter. Good classic hard rock song.

As others have said all of their songs are different which is why I like them so much. Mayu had skyrocketed up to my favorite vocalist in the "genre" (pick one). Even their covers are all over the place. They cab play anything and she can sing just about anything. 🤘

Their cover of X-Japan's Kurenai is great... Tamu has also covered several X-Japan songs previously with Daisuke Kurosawa's group. You can see the drum cam versions on her channel. (Apologies for not providing links - I'm on the road.)

"Monsters" was played at live events under the title "Boom" before its official release, but was re-titled and also re-arranged with the help of Kensuke Akiyama, guitarist-producer who's worked with a number of rockers and in anime (the re-arrange explains the synth). Vocalist Mayu said in an interview that the music and lyrics of "Monsters" were written specifically for live performance, to energize the stupid-crazy in everyone, with words like "explosion", "light", and "heat", the band being called "Live Monsters", the crowd "Floor Monsters", and everyone together "Rockin' Monsters".

Because Saki is such a Badass, Hazuki sometimes doesn't get the love she deserves. They both are fairly awesome. And then there is Tamu.....

Again, enjoyed the reaction. The guitar Hazuki is wielding is the current model RGD from Ibanez' Prestige line. That guitar would set you back about $2500. But probably not her though. She recently landed an endorsement with Ibanez. I'd say she deserves it.

As a rule, I'm generally anti-Ibanez... but this one is fire.

If there's one thing you can't say about their album/EP, it's that it's repetitive. This is also evident in their covers, which offer a lot of variety. And their song 'Life' also reflects this very well. An emotional anthem whose sound screams for a huge stadium filled to the roof. 🤘🏻 【 'Our rock never dies ever. Forever!' - from BAND-MAID 'Manners' 】🕊️

Tbh dissension is their hardest song by far, and they are versatile and not afraid to try a lot of style but still killing it... and mayu seriously becoming my favourite vocalist from japanese band
@robertturner80403 жыл бұрын
Saki wrote Monsters and Mayu did the lyrics its a song about going to a rock party and dancing all night head banging till sun up .Both saki and Hazuki have midi for guitar effect but this was added in the studio mix .They can and do play all sorts of stuff just look at there cover list !! 99% of it is heaved up by the 7 string wizardry by the two Hazuki and Saki then with Tamu and Hara providing the world class rhythm section then Mayu can morph into something that fits perfectly like screaming in Dissension or perfect cleans in Life .Pick any off the YT cover or original from Jpop to 80s rock to hair metal and Anime there all Awesome .and dont wait for votes as your missing out big time .

Dissension is their heaviest song while Monsters is probably their least heavy non-ballad - Monsters is also one of their earliest songs (although it took them a while to get around to upload a You Tube video for it) and Dissension the newest of the 7 songs they have released on CD to date - they have 5 other songs that have only appeared on their Zaiko live stream concerts (to date they have done 4 solo and two more collaborations with other bands). Interestingly although it is definitely video footage of them playing Monsters live at their second solo live stream (Dec 26, 2020), I think the audio is actually the studio recording, but the live performance is so tight to the studio recording you can't really tell - except while they use the synth as a backing track in most live performances of the song, I'm pretty sure the show this footage is from was the one time they experimented with not using the synth track at all. If you want video showcasing the drummer Tamu check out their covers of Kurenai by X-Japan and Megitsune by Babymetal If you were enjoying a pop-punk vibe from Monsters then you might want to check out this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2nQppqifst0kJo - It isn't Nemophila (it predates Nemophila by almost a decade) but does feature an 18 year old Saki (the guitarist on the audiences right in the Monsters video). It opens with this haunting extended guitar solo that has something of a Hendrix feel to it (at least for me, ymmv), but then the rest of the band joins in and a pop-punk song breaks out.. they are also wearing maid outfits a couple years before Miku met Kanami although they didn't stick with it after the first couple videos.

The first time I saw a Nemophila video, I was kind of "meh!" But I have to admit that they're rapidly growing on me. If you want a fun time, watch their cover of AC/DC's "Whole Lotta Rosie." I guarantee you'll smile through the whole thing.

Yeah, some people were weirded out by the synth-pop start, but those guitar solos won them over. I like the whole package, why stay in one lane?

One thing about Nemophila is they cover a wide range. You want real J-Pop? Check out their cover of NiZiu's "Make You Happy". Mayu even does NiZiu's dance throughout the video. Anyway, "Monster" has a cool rock vibe that reminds me a touch of Band-Maid's song, "Youth". Not that the songs sound alike, but both have that funky rhythm during the verses. Nemophila's "Fighter" seems even more like a Band-Maid song as it reminds me of "Dice" in places. So yeah, look for some more Nemophila, and don't ignore their covers of which they have plenty (as other commenters have commented). Great review by the way. It really makes me appreciate "Monster" even more.

In the real live that I watched. The intro was done by guitar. This is a studio version over the live. The live was great. Why they went with the post production synth version I don't know.

No mention of the crazy art on the right side Marshall amp? These two guitar players match in style really well and trade off regularly. Really good band. I think the left guitar is an 7 string Ibanez, not positive though. Nice. I want one.
@tackle473 жыл бұрын
Hazuki is playing an Ibanez 7 string and Saki a Killer 7 string, they both can seriously play and those 7 strings really add a thickness to their sound. You really need to see them do Oiran live 2021, no crowd but damn do they bring it.
@allanmoger18383 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it's been said, this wasn't live. The good news is it's even better live! Less midi synth in the mix and more in-your-face guitar. Mayu sings it just as well with the rasp and tone you hope for. This was written by Saki and Mayu and I think it's one of their best with the most melodic solo. Mayu sings "we're so good, you will be alright". Whatever the context, that's quite the understatement. You can't really pigeonhole Nemophila either, they are very talented musicians making music they clearly love and I hope they continue that way. there are two live form Yaon Naon songs out there now - don;t even bother with the voting, just do one of them for funnzies - you won't be disappointed.

Is Saki playing the synth part on her guitar with an effect pedal or something? I seem to recall reading somewhere that she does that on occasion? It certainly looks that way to me.
