**Updates & Corrections** 1. one stand out feature I failed to mention is the built in bass management that allows for high-pass to your main speakers. 2. during the SB3000 comparison I said the E110 can play louder, while it does play some freq louder than the SB3000 others are dead even and the SB3000 is louder at other freq so it's not as cut & dry as I made it sound. 3. when referring to the front baffle being cast into the basket I believe they are manufactured separately and joined together at some point in the manufacturing process but I'm not 100% on this. Reach out to JL if you're curious please as my main focus is the products performance.

Don't take my word for it, feel free to google it and you'll see the average channel with 10k subs doesn't make jack shit. Thank you so much for the review. I now know what I am going to get next. Just out of curiosity, can we use two subs, one for SQ and the other for SPL, and blend them together to get the best of both worlds? I am using a pair of SB3000s with the S400 MK2 powered by the I150. I find it lacking the oomph I want with hard-hitting bass that hits your chest hard. Having said that, I am also looking for SQ in the sub, can I get a single Rhythmik sub and a JLA E110 blend and put those subs in the back of the room together with the pair of SB3000s in the front to pressurize the room? The room is 12 x 23 x 8 and is treated.

Hello, first of all, plz sub if not already, I'm almost at 20k, on to your question, short answer is no, SQ & SPL subs cannot mix, it's like having a truck that is super comfortable, if you do that then it can't tow or haul anything because the suspension is too soft. Long answer is I don't think that's what you want. I've been doing this for a long time, based on everything you've said I think what you really want is a larger sense of scale. A pair of SB3000's would satisfy most people but you still want more, you want that overwhelming almost car audio levels of force & bass baring down on you, such can only be achieved with larger subs. Good news is you don't have to break the bank to accomplish that, you just have to be willing to have larger subs so before I ramble on more are you willing to go for larger subs or do you have space constraints? We can get close with smaller subs but it will cost a lot more money.

Excellent review, you’ve given me more to think about. I’m upgrading the amp modules in my dual SVS SB13 Ultras to 1200w RMS. These are placed behind my seating position at the back of the room due to space constraints at the front stage. I initially wanted to pair them with a single Kef KF92 but since decided on dual SB3000’s for the front stage due to their compact size. I’m now wondering whether the JL Audio E110 will be a better match given they have more output than the 3000s and could be on par with my sb13 ultras (more like SB4000s with the upgraded amp modules). So, two JL Audio e110s at the front, two SB4000s (13 ultras) at the back. Do you think that would be a better match? The e110 are $700 more than the SVS 3000 which I don’t mind shelling out if it means they’ll be better matched.

I generally ask people to narrow down their choices to 2-3 before I can really help because there are so many options and I could write 10 pages of subwoofers options & pro's and con's and that would just be too much :)

Slightly off topic but what do you think of jl audio when it comes to bass quality in car audio? I've not had one in years but remember then sounding clean. I'm going down the 8inch route to save space
@NemoPropaganda Жыл бұрын
car audio is extremely dependant on the enclosure, car, and to a lesser extent the amplifier. WIth that said I went on the same 8" journey, I was sick of not having a trunk and coming from a vented 12" I knew I was in for a serious challenge. JL Audio car subs are great but the price is bonkers. I knew for an 8" to satisfy me it needed to be a serious one and capable of taking serious abuse so my 8" options were the JL Audio W7 AE, Morel Ultimo Titanium, and Hertz ML 2000.3 but I could not bring myself to spend $1000 on an 8" driver worrying I may not be satisfied so I just got the smaller version of what I already owned which was the Memphis Mojo MJM812. I had a variety of custom boxes made and settled on one that was .8 net tuned to 35hz, used a Helix mono amp and holy hell am I happy with the result. No it's not a 12" but I'm older now and don't need crazy output, I wanted deep bass at reasonable volumes and I'm absolutely satisfied. For reference I don't listen above 85dB and my car is an Audi S7 which technically is a hatchback so it's a little easier to get good bass. Fair warning, forget about the idea of a sealed 8", I tried it and it was cool having such a tiny box but it just doesn't have the needed output. Hope that helps, lmk if you want my box guys contact, he ships and is reasonably priced.

Love the review, So I want to assume that this subwooofer is very similar to the 10W7? It looks very similar,. I know this might sound crazy but when the W7 first came out in 2002 , my husband put 4 10W7's in the back of a honda civic hatchback. Went to a DB drag event and hit 158.1 db with a enclosed box. so if this is going to be something like this, I know what he'll be buying soon.
@NemoPropaganda2 жыл бұрын
Hey what's up Stacey! 158dB is no joke even by todays standards!! Granted the price to achieve those dB's has come down over the years. So to me it looks like one may be inspired by the other but they are 2 totally different drivers. The E110 driver looks to use a much longer stroke design with dual spiders and a totally different basket. It also appears the E110 driver can take a bit more wattage also as it's plate amplifier feeds it 1200w RMS. E110 and E112 are capable of monstrous bass for how small they are.

Hi Nemo , thanks for the supper review, my room size is 10x12ft with 9 ft celling, already having 2 Rel t5xs for few weeks now they are supper for music just love them thanks for your review on t5x that really helped but my family not liking them, while watching movies , so i like to go for one or two separate subs for movies hence my room is small I can only place 2 smaller subs (like kef kc62) on both side walls or 1 big E110, I dnt have a chance to audition them sadly here in my place , hence you have same room size can you guide me a bit to select a better solution for movies.
@NemoPropaganda9 ай бұрын
Hi bro, so the E110 is an absolute monster and capable of serious output for the size, the sound is of course extremely different than your T5X. The E110 is much more aggressive, if that's what you want you will love it! If you want something more like your T5X but with more output look at REL's HT1003 MK2. Another good compact solution with big output is the XTZ 10.17 EDGE or the JL D110. or if you need a slim sub the Arendal 1961 1S or 1723 1S shape might work in your space.

Or should I increase my budget a little bit and go with one kc92. Your kf92 video is just tempting me into it 😊. Hence the price is almost the same, confused a bit, so dual kc62 or dual d110 or one kc92 , I already have dual t5x for music so this will be used only for movies in a 10x12ft small semi treated room.
@NemoPropaganda9 ай бұрын
@@monotoshmitra if you are looking for extreme output from a small package my recommendation remains the JL D110. The KC62 and KF92 are awesome for extreme extension where extreme output are not needed. Both are good, the JL is more aggressive sounding while the KEF options are a little more refined sounding so it just depends what you want.

Hey Nemo your videos have been a BIG help! I have the rel tx9 now but thinking of adding a spl style sub for those times when I want to go back to my childhood bass head days! Do you think a svs pb2000 pro would intergreat with the rel ok? Wouldn't be running the svs all the time but occasionally wanting some in your face bass!
@NemoPropaganda2 жыл бұрын
You want to keep SQ subs with SQ subs otherwise the heavier tone of the SPL sub will kill some of the nuanced detail of the SQ sub. If you want the stark contrast the PB2000 will do it but I wouldn't personally run REL & SVS at the same time. I'd run one or the other so maybe grab a more SPL sub and run it when you're in the mood but turn off the T9X when you do that. That'll make setup easier too.

I have 2x t5x, but I feel like I miss the kickbass punsh a bit while they sound awesome. Using them with line and Marantz audessey. Do you think that a sq subwoofer like this gives the kickbass punch? Or maybe it would be a certain frequency that needs a boost for the "gut punch"?
@NemoPropaganda2 жыл бұрын
you might just prefer a little boost around that area. Bass drum can be as low as 30hz and as high as 80hz depending on the mix but generally they're around 50hz so make sure your crossover is set high enough to enjoy those frequencies. If you need more help try contacting the dealer you bought them from. They should be able to help you get them dialed in.
@MT-eb2dx2 жыл бұрын
@@NemoPropaganda thanks. The processor (Marantz sr6015) boosts 30hz(which the t5x is low in) , I wonder if that takes away from the 50ish region. In your reviews you don't use processing to get a flat response right? While a flat response sounds good, I wonder if it takes away the character.. Since I use it for movie as well, it's a bit of a problem.. compromise wise.
@NemoPropaganda2 жыл бұрын
@@MT-eb2dx why don't you use it the way REL intends? Highlevel from amp to speakers setup for music, LFE from processor to LFE input setup for movies. LFE and Highlevel have independant gain admustment so you can connect both at the same time and have each one setup perfectly :)
@MT-eb2dx2 жыл бұрын
@@NemoPropaganda The crossover knob works for both, so I can't have it at 100hz, which is best for my sourrounds but for stereo it's 80 Hz. Plus I had the feeling that LFE and high level adds up in movies. Maybe I should experiment some more, but placement is not ideal, which favours audessey..

@@MT-eb2dx using LFE input bypasses the internal xover. You maybe have it mixed up with line input which still uses the internal xover. Just had a subwoofer demo of multiple setups and brands. Rel, svs and JL audio. Where I first thought I would go for a svs sb3000, when hearing the jl audio. This thing blew the svs out of the water. Even 2 svs micros didn't hold a candle to the e110. The sound, control and speed is insane on the JL audio. Also better than Rel. JL will def be my next sub. I watch both movies and listen to all kinds of music. This thing is perfect.
@NemoPropaganda2 жыл бұрын
JL isn't better than REL per se, it's a different style of bass, much stronger, more in your face, still quick & dynamic but much more ready to rip your face off while REL is more enhanching the experience with more nuance detail that JL crushes. They're both outstanding but for different people. I like both a lot but inch closer to REL for my personal taste. As far as JL vs SVS I totally agree, SVS is great but JL is the better albeit much more expensive version of the same sound.

As usual, another top notch+ review. But it's your comparisons which are increasingly valuable. To actually talk about which characteristics of one versus the other stands out, or how better one sub can be used is just gold. Your channel is quickly becoming the reference standard for subwoofer knowledge. - - - Never personally auditioned these smaller JLs but within the high-end audio sphere I always much preferred the JLs over the RELs (when listening to 2 subs with the main L&R channels). Reason being is that they filled out the sound much better than the weaker bass of the RELs and never had to break a sweat doing so... they were just much more impactful than the RELs when integrated with a full range floor stander, but still had excellent control, accuracy and tone. Anyway just another superb a video entry into your catalog of subwoofer knowledge / experience! Bravo.

Hey thanks James!! I think liking the heavier JL/SVS sound or the more SQ focused REL/Rythmik sound is just personal taste and there is no right or wrong. REL is not weak sounding by any means, it just doesn't carry that heavy tone that JL/SVS has, there's a good chance that's a big part of the sound that you prefer and that's one of the biggest differences between SPL & SQ subs.

@@jacobclark89 I have not, I'm not super familiar with vintage actually, moreso the 13w7 and the tremendous pressure it puts on a cabinet. It's not uncommon for 13w7 cabinets to built with 2" front baffles and 1" walls. Those vintage cabinets often used thinner wood which added some enjoyable resonance to the sound but absolutely cannot handle the pressure of a modern day subwoofer driver.

I'll start covering B&W when they start rating their wattage in RMS, currently all their subs are rated in peak power and I feel that is a deceptive marketing practice and do not support it. For the prices they charge I think it is fair to ask them to use the industry standard RMS wattage rating.

Would it be beneficial to run two subwoofers on the opposite sides of the range such as 1 Rel subwoofer and 1 JL subwoofer on the same system or would it end up just mudding up the bass?
@erics.41132 жыл бұрын
I'm curious to try this one day as well, but I think you'd want the SPL sub crossed over around 30Hz. That would only give you one octave for that pricey sub (20-30Hz) but it would fill in what the REL can't really do with any authority. There isn't much music that goes there, but for source that plays it I think it would be an interesting setup to hear
@NemoPropaganda2 жыл бұрын
Kind of. You can do that but you'd still want to use an SQ sub for the larger like a REL Predator or HT1205 or Rythmik E15 or F12, etc.... You want to keep SQ subs with SQ subs otherwise the heavier tone of the SPL sub will kill some of the nuanced detail of the SQ sub. Hope that helps answer your qeustion.

This is the first time I've heard the word "Juicy" used to describe bass from a sub. lol (that's why I like the channel.) Not the JL Audio, but the REL audio comparison. If I could afford one now, I'd have a hard time not picking a JL Audio subwoofer. Expensive yes. Features yes. Quality Yes. Made in America - Hell Yes! I still believe America makes the best audio components in the world. As far as subwoofers I think RSL and Rhythmik and SVS make some off the best regardless of price. But overall JL Audio has the edge, and use only their own technology developed from the ground up in their subwoofers. No copy cat here.
@NemoPropaganda5 ай бұрын
in fairness RSL, SVS, & Rythmik aren't copying anyone either. RSL has a very unique approach to port design, SVS brought app based subwoofers to the masses at every price point, and Rythmik has their patented servo tech and drivers designed in house.
@WWeiss-nv5vz2 жыл бұрын
Great video! Seems like the SVS SB16 besides weight/size would have been the better comparison at $2,300. I believe you have said in the past you've never heard it. Even the SB4000 at $1,800. You didn't say if you are keeping this subwoofer and if you are what system would you pair it with? Never really mentioned movie performance vs KEF92.
@NemoPropaganda2 жыл бұрын
I heard the SB16 once in a showroom, never heard any of the 4000 series though. I don't usually cover movie performance too much but both will be very competent performers. Pick the KF92 for smaller rooms or quieter listening, pick the JL for larger rooms or louder listening. Undecided if i'll keep it or not. For now it is mine as I did purchase it solely for this review.

Anybody have a sub-woofer that produces a low frequency quiet hum?. It is not the sub-woofer itself (I don't think). I can leave it plugged in and powered on and there will be NO HUM if I disconnect the inter-connect cables that are plugged from my sub to my AMP. Can the AMP itself cause a ground loop? I heard a "Isolation Transformer/Ground Loop Hum Eliminator" might help? Any suggestions? I like to listen to Jazz a lot and that music can be dynamic. Even though the hum is not very loud - During quiet passages in Jazz the noise can be very noticeable. I have changed inter-connects, I have went with balanced vs. unbalanced. I moved the power cord to different outlets on the wall. I even purchased a line conditioner. Nothing. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. (ps. I have a Fathom f1 12 v.2). It was great when it didn't hum.

@@NemoPropaganda Thanks Nemo. I changed the interconnects yet again and separated all the cables behind my stereo equipment stand and the humming is gone. I was shocked.
