It reminds me of the first time I played a Fatal Frame game with some friends: the friend who brought it had played it alone and thought it was scary as hell. I was on the controller and investigating things. Another friend and I were making observations and comments to each other, and that dissolved the tension that was supposed to be building in the first chapter so much that we started riffing on the game (we were both fans of MST3K). It also didn't help that the first ghost battle (which kind of serves as a tutorial) I accidentally let go of the run button, and my character slowed from running away from the ghost to leisurely walking away from the ghost, who still couldn't keep up with me and eventually got tired and stopped. It looked so funny we all three started laughing.
