@@jonathanx8528 I think that for today's kids, today's tunes will have a similar effect, but whatever decade you grew up, I think that whatever music played during your teenage days will always be special. I used to think that any modern music post 2000 was a bit lame, but every now and then, there's still a good one that is super catchy. My teenage days were firmly in the 80s, but I also think that not all songs back then were great.

Dolly Parton, Sheila E, Lisa Lisa, Olivia Newton-John, Patti LaBelle, Whitney Houston, and yes there was Paula vs Janet... MTV chose Madonna. I'll never forget the shock of seeing Janet Jackson lose Best Female Artist (or whatever) to Katie Lang. MTV loved that "If" video while Lang wasn't even in their program rotation, haha. The black and white video, directed by David Fincher and choreographed by Abdul herself in mid-January 1989, won four 1989 MTV Video Music Awards for Best Female Video, Best Editing, Best Choreography, and the first Best Dance Video. The video features an appearance by her friend, comedian Arsenio Hall, whose popular talk show had premiered a few weeks prior to the video shoot. Djimon Hounsou also appears.

I CANT BELIEVE UNTIL NOW that I thought this song was done by Madonna!!! hahaha SMH... I am only 33, but I grew up on 80s music due to my older sisters.. Which in turn made the "80s' like my favorite decade genre of music... So i have always knda pride myself on knowing songs and artists of that period. So it is utter shock that I thought this was a Madonna song til tonight?!?!? crazy. lol

@@codyferrell1031Damn you never heard of Paula Abdul? I'm barely older than you, and I grew up hearing this song. She was a headliner for most of my early years.

Paula Abdul, Janet Jackson, Pebbles, Karen White, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey were my favorites in the late 80's/early 90's. Definitely miss those days.

Timothy, I'm not sure what you mean. . .Are you intimating that Paula and Pebbles sing off-key? If so, I don't really think it's off-key (maybe Pebbles, a bit), but as for Paula, I think it's just more of a nasal sound.
