I totally related to the part about feeling paralyzed, not sure what was happening or being processed yet giving into it. Because of the grief of seeing who your loved one really are. For me it all happened the same time. I only really loved my mother, father, brother and sister. They were/are all I had/have. And life showed me more of the truth about them and also about myself. Each time it ripped a hole inside my chest so to speak and a sort of exorcism ensued. I had another on christmass day after seeing my uncle again after a year and seeing more of his true side. It's like this automatic miraculous cycle of revelation happening about the world and yourself and the result is the ability to let go a little more and perceive and feel a little deeper each time. Slowly more and more is dropped and it starts becoming clear this is an automatic miraculous processes of life teaching you to let go, as if heading in the direction of.... "oh no death" to the distracted mind... or the release from suffering to the calm awareness of the big picture. And it gets simpler and simpler until it's no longer a matter of scriptures, teachers, practices, energies, Gods, etc,. It becomes about feeling inside your body and finding ever more subtle control of relaxing and letting go. The scripture becomes "feel your feelings". The teacher becomes miraculous existence. The practice becomes existing. The energies become subtle nervous system sensations. The Gods become everyone.

There is a misunderstanding that what we call "practice" has to do with the existence of a separate self. Practice can mean many things. Even the need to drop everything, as you said, can be understood as practice, and it is not an easy thing to do. It takes time to get the hang of it, to learn how not to resist and be totally open. To be curious about the nature of human existence and all illusions and beliefs does not necessarily imply the need for a self. This is though clear later when the sense of self drops away. Thanks for sharing, great conversation.

🙂 If you kept practicing it would eventually burn out and "you" wouldn't be able to practice anymore. That's why everything is temporary: There is no one for any thing to last for.

"Nothing can harm you as much as your own thoughts unguarded" Buddha. Non dual teaching, should therefore practice control of the mind (mediation). It doesn't. Buddhists spend decades calming their minds before learning non dualism.

I can understand the question of the guy. Nothingness is frightening for the ego, should be the worst fear. On the other hand nothingness (or oneness) is the most logical state. Why there should be something at all. And also at the same time, yet, there is something, something that feels. As opposed to this nothingness view. Even if it is illusory.

I hope you find love, because every little thing does indeed matter. We are here to increase our capacity to love and be loved. The attachment to non-existence is only a boat that takes us from one shore to the other.

True awakening is the realization that everything already is Love. There is nothing to Find, it's who you and I are. Awakening is dropping the veil to this truth. And once the veil drops so does all attachment. Blessings 🎆

I think there is a distinction between what is TRUE and what “MATTERS”.. what is true is objective.. what matters is subjective.. what’s true is that you exist and that you are everything.. but that’s the default.. it always been like that..always will.. the question is does that “matter” to “you”..yes life is but a dream.. but even though you flow DOWNSTREAM you are still encouraged 3 times to gently row..so please enjoy this dream self❤

Can there be consciousness without the me? I feel a sense of Aliveness since the me has dissolved. The process took years and was horrible but now I feel connected to everything at times and at times there is just the sensing without the me. The me is still there but its a mini me.

We are who we are. We are already who we are and we cannot be other than who we are. If there is anything we can know with certainty, its our own self. Others we may also know, but there can be no certainty. There is no need for any theory or for someone to tell us who we are. Forget about all theories, forget about what others say. Just find out for ourself who we really are. Nisargadatta suggested focusing or meditating on the I am. This is nothing but the sense of our own being. Or to put it another way, aware that you are aware. It's quite a subtle thing. So we may not quite get it initially. But keep trying. If you already have some practices like meditation, no harm continuing. The purpose of all practices is to still the mind. The more silent the mind is, the easier it will be to get to the I am meditation. BTM this is the same as Who am I? practice suggested by Ramana Maharshi. When we know who we actually are, the ego will be diminished and ultimately destroyed. It may happen suddenly or more likely gradually. Then the tendency to say I do this, I want this, I feel this, they of that to me, etc will be gone. It doesn't mean nothing happens. The very same things may still happen but instead of saying or feeling I do this etc , you say there is doing, there is talking, there is arguing. There is no one identifying with these anymore. These two are quite different. The former is like getting caught in a tornado. For the latter, the tornado is still there, but you are no longer inside of it. It's like looking at the tornado from the outside. As we get deeper and deeper in this, the tornado will appear to be further and further away.

Newman/Parsons effectively gaslight their audience, an AI or a smart well trained parrot could repeat their teachings, and my ex-husband will interrupt you while speaking without needing to attend an internet Satsang with Tony. Meeting people where they're at DOESN'T exclude speaking the uncompromising message (that's just being a decent teacher), and it certainly doesn't preclude even letting people finish their question before interrupting them (that's just being a decent (non) person). I was deeply, deeply depressed and su*cidal for a full month after I heard Parsons for the first time, I wasn't ready for that. Idk, neo Advaita seems like someone opened the upanishads or A Course in Miracles, ripped the first 3/4 out, and re-sold the rest as a repackaged "uncompromising" message. Neo Advaita is good for people who are truly addicted to seeking, it's a spiritual guillotine, so I think it has a place, but without appropriate context and with that delivery, it made me appreciate why the original teaching is called Advaita VEDANTA, the final teachings. When pressed for time the Buddha gave the Bahiya sutra, he didn't bark "THERE'S NO ONE HERE" to Bahiya.
@suzanne-chang
@suzanne-chang Жыл бұрын
Mm, that sounds really difficult. Sorry to hear that. I do agree that there is a level of readiness. It's such a potent message and can be very devastating and dangerous sometimes... depending. Like you said, it can have its time and place. Sending much love

Tbh when i went through break up i went paranoid i was really depressed and pyschotic and then somehow i (Athiest btw) headed towards Geeta/Upanishads but i felt even more depressed and s***dal coz everything i heard broke my heart a lot . I used to cry every other day for few months, for me that period was the darkest. What changed ? I let the that knowledge settle into my mind a little by little, i kept on going with patience and lived with my paranoia and even thought even if i get killed so be it(tbh i lived in a worst case scenario kind of imagination). With time i kept on listening Osho, Acharya P, Jiddu k. But one more thing which helped me a lot , i mean a lot is meditation. Meditation stopped my scared mind to wander into the abyss and it gave me strength to control my mind to fall into the pit and Upanishads helped my over reactive mind towards peace(or i should say towards moksh). Obviously the journey is long , but i have came out of the dark Abyss.

@@varunpratapsingh8405 Blessings to you Varun. The dark night of the soul is very real and (as you found) being willing to go as far as death in our minds is often what is needed to truly live. We are killing off part or most of ego and can be reborn to our True Self. Great that you discovered Meditation and it served you. May you continue to thrive. Endless Blessings and Joy💞🙏

I can't speak for Suzanne or if she teaches Buddhism. What she mostly shares here is Non Duality pointers and her personal experience of awakening from duality to non duality. If you search non duality there are many, many teachers with different styles. There is a Hindu form known as Advaita Vedanta. You might want to check out Angelo at Simply Always Awake. He started in Zen and had an awakening to non duality in the early 90s so he has years of experience with this. Aydiashanti is a Buddhism based non dual teacher. Many speakers/teachers follow the pointings of Ramana Maharashi and Papaji. In this lineage is Eli Saxon-Bear, Gangaji and Mooji all with KZbin videos. There is Lucille Francis, Rupert Spira and Eckhart Tolle. All these speakers/teachers have books also. Then, as was discussed in this video There are Neo Advaita teachers like Tony Parsons or Jim Newman who have a very uncompromising message. I'm just finishing Angelo DiLullo's excellent book: Awake, it's your turn, and highly recommend it. When I first got into non duality I checked out all folks I mention here and more. Because of everyone having unique characters you will eventually find ones you resonate with the most. Oh. Matt Garrett is also very good. May you awaken with Ease and be the Blessing you were born to be. Namaste 🙏

Well even though none of this matters. She's still in a human body. She talks about in one of her videos how you can never truly be 100% enlightened because you're still attached to a human body and its conditionings. No matter how far you go into Buddhism you're still a human. Yes true there is no I and me no time and no existence but the human mind is not truly able to 100% register that. There's no completely escaping the human experience as long as you are human. So no matter how quote on quote enlightened she becomes.She will still be human and humans want to help other humans for the most part. It's deeply encoded in our genetics.There is no escaping it completely. So the human side of her wants to ease people suffering I would assume by teaching them to view suffering differently. Then when they start to understand what suffering is they will not be as impacted by it and learn to accept it.
