It's hard to believe this is right around when I just started going out clubbing since I turned 21. I'm pretty sure I made my way up to Neo a few times as well as EXIT in 1999. Thanks for the memories!

Oh my God I used to love this place especially the $5 all you can drink before 11 pm nights. I remember it towards the end of the 1980s. I think I was the only English guy in there at the time.

I miss Neo The only dance club I would attend dress in black everyone did their own thing no judgment. Anyone hear of any clubs like Neo these days?

Sacha!!! It’s Mari. I’m not sure if you remember me. It has been a long time...over twenty years long. I was Alicia Acevedo’s roommate. Besides club Neo, we use to hang out at the record store and at Curt’s place on Belmont. So crazy it is to have found this video. I noticed everyone in the video had their own distinct style of dress and dance style. Last time I went to NEO was in 2009. At least 2 thirds of the club were in all black and maybe half had some cheesy pleather gas mask thing on while dancing the same cheeseball dance that looked like spastic nerd kung fu. Just a silly place with extremely rude bartenders now, from what I hear.

i meant clubs now, sorry, i asked because im 20 and ill be 21 next year and i really like new wave and i dont mind going to the gay clubs for good music but i was afraid it waould come to that, not homo phobic or anything, i have some gay friends and im straight but ill definatley check those places in boys town out if it comes down to my last resort, im just preparing my self for next year though, thanks anyway so only neo and a few others currently still have new wave nights?

I believe Darkwave nights are being hosted at Medusa's in Elgin. They usually have a portion of the night devoted to new wave. Might be worth checking out.
