I remember the very first six-slot MVS NG machine at an arcade in the Woodbridge Mall in NJ. This was in 1990 and a couple of games that were those slots was Magician Lord and Nam 1975. I'd never forget the loud audio on Nam 1975 and the impeccable soundtrack to Magician Lord. Ninja Combat was on there too. A sweet slice of childhood not forgotten.

I think of metal slug wasn't a thing, this would've been a premiere title for the Neo-Geo. Never saw it at the arcades i was at, but if i had, it would been so memorable. :o

I also wondered why the serial numbers on a lot of mvs carts was removed. I have a few carts where it s not only covered but it was literally cut out with a blade or cutter 😂😂😂😂

Best home version of Shock Troopers? Missed the PS3 PSN release but how about the PS2/PSP/Wii Arcade Classics set?

The best port is the ACA port by Hamster that's on Switch, PS4, Xbone, and Windows 10 store (not to be confused with the awful Steam port). It's perfect in terms of gameplay. The only thing I would nitpick about it is that the Switch version defaults to blood off and the other ports default to blood on, which makes a huge difference in Hi-Score and Caravan modes. SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 sadly isn't anywhere near as good. It's got frameskip/slowdown that's not in the original, lots of character voices are missing, some music cues are slightly off (nobody but me would care about this), and it's based off Version A of the game (which I enjoy less, but your mileage may vary). And load times... on the PS2 version anyway, I haven't played the other versions.

@@LordBBH Quality info, as usual BBH. Thanks for that, I will look out for the Windows 10 Store version for the time being and steer away from PS2. Great clip as well, lots of info for all comers of Shock Troopers, you certainly represent the game well as it should be. Cheers
