Thank you very much from Myanmar. Unfortunately, no music appreciation and even education here in our country as it’s currently under coup. But still feeling blessed to be able to learn jazz properly through your channel. If you’ve time, I would like to request Robert Glasper’s modern licks & tricks. Thank you again.

Unbelievable lesson! Do you think it would be possible to make a follow up using quartal chords or Kenny Barron voicings but keeping things nice and simple for us intermediate pianists like in this lesson? Thanks ☺️

Sorry my stupid ass has to ask, but why are those chords considered 9th chords and not 7th chords? is it because you put the root in the bass? Can you do that and play any inversion you want and it would still be a 9th chord?
@StijnWauters
@StijnWauters 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, good question! When you build 9th chords (stack thirds up to the 9th), it’s almost impossible to play all the notes in 1 hand. Therefore it’s quite common to play the root in the LH, and start on the third in the RH (up to the 9). Apparently the chords in the RH will be 7th chords, but the root in the LH makes it a 9th chord! As long as you keep the root in the bass you can invert the 7th chords in the RH (will still be 9th chords).. Hope that was of help.. :-)
