The reduced speed option looks very badly implemented - it still moves slowly when moving __to_ the pick position - WTF?

That's an interesting point, didn't pay attention to it until you pointed it out. Well, honestly to me accuracy is the primary concern and speed is not that crucial (I only do small-batch runs in house and large-batch is always outsourced to factories).

Does it have vacuum sensing to detect a mis-pick when vision is disabled ?

Yes, you can enable or disable vacuum sensing for each feeder individually

how does the robot know where the fiducial marks are? were the coordinates of the fiducial marks recorded in the system such that the robot will move to those coordinates and uses the camera to ever so lightly center on it? what is the board is skewed? will it still wortk?

Just recently bought the new reflow oven from Neoden (model IN6). It's not cheap but works quite well.

You can find pricing information on their Aliexpress website or even eBay. This video is about technical review, and pricing varies a lot depending on how many feeders you want and the shipping cost varies too.
