I collected the DVDs, VHS as they came out, got lucky and found a EoE DVD (Japanese dub). That was over twenty years ago. Even the newer movies have their original voice actors; so to all of a sudden change... no thanks. it's what we grew up with.

Rei acts a bit like Asuka and Shinji's pseudo-child in the fanfic I'm reading. It's kinda cute. I just hope she doesn't forget her Angel side in it though. That's why I loved her rebellion scene against Gendo so much. She recognized she wasn't human, and decided to own up to it. It was her way to prove she wasn't a doll.

Evas refusal to conform to traditional narrative due to the sarin gas attacks forcing a rewrite is what made so influential to the crazier anime of the 2000s ( haruhi bakemonogatari)
